Direct BOSE Sub and amp replacement??

I have an 03 maxima
Does anyone know of direct replacement for the bose subwoofer and amp?

Like something with little to no modifications that can fit in the smae place as the current bose sub.
I searched the site and havent found a clear cut answer good enough to convince me to spend the money.

even 8" sub wont fit in there perfect, i tried, and it won't sound as good, you need to go at least 10" to improve something. that tiny bose sub is well designed for that place

Huh?

There are several people who have installed aftermarket (non-Bose) 8" subs without a problem....I'm one of them! Actually, my car never came with Bose, I got a metal Bose plate from my local stereo shop (lucked across it) and installed a Kicker Comp 8" sub, bolted right up with NO modification. Speaker fit perfectly down through the hole. Naturally, I had to drill new screw holes to secure the sub to the metal panel, but I don't consider that a fitment issue or "modification." I even ran the non-Bose rear deck panel (no sub speaker grille) for several weeks before finding one in the 4 Sale forums.

However, when I did finally install the Bose deck panel, I had to trim the foam peice closest to the sub becuase it hit the lip/edge of the speaker. I used a razor blade and took all of 10 seconds to trim so it would better fit around the sub edging. I had the Kicker 200w amp mounted to the back of my rear seat instead of trying to mount it underneath the back deck where the Bose amp typically sits....just easy mounting to the seat and used a couple feet less of wire.

With any aftermarket setup though, you WILL have to dynamatt the rear deck. Even at low volume, mine rattled like a tin can full of marbles after my install! After Dynamatt....95% eliminated. I plan to go back and matt up a couple more areas. Plus, the matt went down when it was cold outside.....should've waited till it was warm so it would stick better. I'll fix that minor issue though this spring!

In terms of sounding as good, I suppose that might be an opinion. But, having heard other Bose subs in these cars, my Kicker 8" (New $90 deal - but this sub typically goes about $110) blows them away. I would assume if an aftermarket 8" didn't sound as good, it might have been an issue with speaker choice, power, or tuning. My little Kicker shakes the world out of my rear view and from the outside, rattles the trunk quit noticeably! I can also easily feel it inside the car. Outside the car, not nearly as "thunderous." But, I have kids and neighbors and am an adult now....I don't want two 12" rattling the windows of my home from the drive way.

BTW, I do have two 12" in my turbo....but that's my weekend toy! NOT my daily driver! And YES, a 10" will give you better db's but will cost more due to either modification if mounting on back deck OR extra cost in having to buy and secure an enclosure.

i'd reccomend a sub in a box in the trunk, you will prob have a hard time not having some rattles mounting it on the rear deck etc and a sealed one will have better sq

Ive had my maxima for about 6 months now and I've been having problems with my bose sub which has never worked..i installed an aftermarket Alpine headunit and attempted to fix the sub by re-soldering the 6 points on the attached amp and still nothing. I am in college with a tight budget and want to replace the bose sub but not the bose amplifier. First is this possible?? and second is there a write up for a direct sub replacement?

I usually like to do all mods myself to save money so if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

I tried the re soldering on my 03 max and that didnt work.........next i will try the electronics cleaner on the amp because i read it has a sort of spray foam all on the inside.
I like my bose when it works but i need to get to work.
