Thought it was my clutch

So I posted here about a week ago about my clutch going out. Here's a recap. Car started making a weird rubbing noise one night and I couldn't figure out what it was. So the next day I was in second gear and all the sudden snap, crackle, pop, then grinding noise. Then no movement. would go into gear but engine would rev like i was in neutral. Had it towed to a shop. Ordered myself a stage one clutch. Well today they go to put it in and said that it wasn't my clutch and that somekind of bracket that holds the axle into the tranny broke causing the axle to slip out of the tranny causing me not to go anywhere. just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen? They ordered a new bracket from nissan and I won't be getting my car back until tuesday. Now I know what the popping noise was before all this happened. Before when i would dump the clutch for take off i would get this loud popping banging on the bottom of the floorboard. Thought it was wheel hop but I'm assuming it was this bracket piece being loose or about to break off. Just thought I'd share this.
