My Turn 2 "Strut"

I remember when driving my '03 was fun, now I dread to hit the streets due to a blown strut!

I have read quite a few threads and posts on what brand and/or combo to get for best ride and/or drop. WOW! too much 4 my blood!

Well I'm going to get KYB-GR2 struts and keep my stock springs because I'm already happy with my ride height.(I would have went back OEM on the struts, but i want to try something different and KYB is final)

I also plan on getting OEM strut mounts and bellows. (any suggestions on where I can find these at a low price?)

I plan on taking a couple pics of my install to post on the .org, should be fun! lol

Contact DaveB (Dave Burnette) for pricing on the stock parts. He works for South Point Nissan in Texas, but can save you money even with shipping if you let him know you are a member of max.org.

Can't go wrong with KYB's.

and reusing stock springs is ok as long as they maintain stiffness.

Moog strut mounts are great as well. Search it on google and click shopping, and sort by lowest price.

cool, I'll give him a call tommorrow.

What about using Moog mounts and bellows? I also heard they were good.
(just asking, 98% stuck on OEM)

thanks

I experience the same feeling. Front end goes over bumps making me think I got suspension by JELLO. I managed to replace the struts with the Tokico blue's but still experience the JELLO ride effect.

So perhaps you have worn bushings, strut mounts, ball joints.. or any of that other stuff. Just a thought.

^^...or a blown engine mount that gives out a nasty clunk making you think is a dead strut. OP, if you are absolutely certain that it is a strut, then KYB is the way to go, along with Moog strut mounts and belows. Shop around a couuple of online stores besides DaveB, such as Rockauto and Amazon; sometimes shipping costs are deal breakers. Personally, I've had much better deal with Amazon.

JELLO<--- I agree!

I know I have a dead strut due 2 the fluid leak, but it is also possible that I might have further problems. I plan on making a stop by the local repair shop to get a complete check b4 the install.

Tokico HP Blue is an OE replacement... correct?

Yup if you had an oil leak and the oil managed to contact the OE bushings chances are they're toast. At least I'm positive this happened to me and I want them damn things swapped out but it's a costly job.

Get the Tokico struts from the importrp.com group deal.

Usually called "dust covers" or "boots."

I can dig the "shipping cost" mindset but I think OEM would be best for those parts, but I'm giving Moog a thought.
I plan on placing my order by Tuesday night so I'm researching & thinking extra hard on this.

Courtesy of Dave B, here are all the wear items for the A33 strut, with part numbers. Doing the whole list is insanely pricey, I would hope going to a good shop with the list would result in only the worn parts being replaced, not the whole list.

I believe this might also be true for my "Silver Bullet"... my passenger side is completely gone, it not only bangs on bumps... she bounces like crazy cause it's all spring working on that side no strut!

I dont think Tokicos are good 4 stock springs(I really have no idea). Now if I wanted to lower the Max we would have a different story.

I just went with Tokico because they are blue

And it looks somewhat nice to see a blue strut.

Just got the same list from our buddy DAVEB. I probably won't need all the parts but I can afford what I need.
