Where to buy headers these days? :)
Where to buy headers these days? :)
Ok, so I've been searching for hours now, and it seems most of the "header" threads are dated. What header options are available/worth considering.... Does cattman offer headers right now, because they aren't on their website... Where can I buy headers for the best prices, and which ones?
Cattman does not sell headers right away. They get produced about 3-4 times a year if I'm not mistaken. You have to call Brian and place an order. Once he gets enough orders in production goes in and you will get your headers I think in about a month (don't quote me on this).
Headers are pricey but from what I hear with the results, you won't be dissappointed. I'm waiting on a set myself along with the 3" catback.

Custom Maxima headers FTW.

I'm on the lookout for a set of headers as well, and have came across nothing on besides one listing for obx.

I would surely call anyone attempting to sell obx headers, and confirm that they are indeed in-stock first. Oh and btw, stay away from sparktec motorsports.

They screwed one of the members here I believe.
Call first and make sure they have an equal length Y-pipe.

Our header/y-pipe system for your '02 is regularly $859.99, but since we're out of stock (and getting ready to make more) the backorder discount brings the price down to $794.99. The group deal price on the 3" exhaust is $739.99, so if you went for both, the total would be $1534.98.
Since a stock cat would become the bottleneck at that point, consider a Cattman FastCat, our street-legal cat that combines a 300-cell all-metal substrate with a tapered spun-stainless shell to pick up another 4-6 whp. Regularly $249.99, you get 10% off and free shipping (for the cat) if its sold and shipped with another exhaust part.
The 3" exhausts should be ready to ship in about 3 weeks, and the headers should be done around the end of March. We're taking 30% deposits on catbacks orders ($222) when they're placed, and header deposits ($238) will be due when I give the production orders later next week.
The size of the catback production run is locked in now, and there are only 2 left, so if you decide to purchase the 3" system you should call ASAP next week. I'd really like to identify as many header orders as possible before we do so I can establish useful production numbers. That's a major reason for offering the backorder discount.
Let me know if you have other questions, we take orders (and questions) by phone at 800.759.9920, open 9-5 MST, M-Th.

Bumpin an old thread here..
Has anyone found a legit place to buy the OBX equal length headers? What's the deal with these?
I recently replaced my maxima with another 03 and instead of swapping out my rusty hotshots i have on my old one i'd rather just try to find a new set of headers. Really don't want to spend 800+ on cattmans either.

V2s are not being made anymore.
would these work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-S...Q5fAccessories
i just looked up obx headers vq35de :\
p.s I definitely wouldn't want to spend about 800 for headers n y pipe.

At this point, yes. Or CustomMaxima headers. bleh.
I've been looking for OBX headers with no results. Not on eBay. Contacted SparktecMotorsports and they are on backorder or whatever.

custom maxima FTL. i ordered them and they suck. the y-pipe has a terrible whistle-leak and the headers didnt fit correctly. too much work to make them fit right, it wasnt worth it. i did feel mild gains but nothing like what cattmans produce.
It's a shame that we had all these different options for headers a few years ago and now there's nothing. Especially with the gains that they give. My hotshot headers were the last of the bunch before they went out of business and apparently they weren't coated or painted or whatever hotshot did to them. I'm trying to figure out if i should have them done or just leave them like they are now. Any suggestions?
Yeah, that'd be pretty great
As of now, I'll just enjoy my Cattmans and not have money to buy anything else... Too bad there wasn't an option around $400-$500... Then I'd be able to afford my VAFC II and Wideband 02... Oh well, I guess I'll wait for Christmas or something...

I think the turnoff for most people is the initial cost of the Cattman's vs other previous competitors. However, after seeing them in person and being involved in the installation process something must be said for fitment and build quality.
Should one decide to go with a lower priced or "cheaper" header set then it could be argued that the money saved on the initial purchase has the potential to be burned up in additional installation time due to poor fitment or shorter life. All ultimately resulting in less value.
Many seem to be looking for a more economical solution and that is understandable. But being a man that works with his hands for a living I do know that things of quality take more time and the best materials to produce.
My two cents? Go with what represents the best value.

very well said!!!! Been saying this forever as well....I've done many different cars and different brands, Cattman has one hell of a product!
Hey dude post some pictures of headers installed if you don't mine! Did you have to stretch the flexsection too fit? If so get a hose and locate the leak and let a local muffler shop weld it up if it's not the flex or install a new flex section....vibrantperformance.com has them, get the inner lined ones made for turbo cars they last forever on N/A cars....
can't wait!!
Nope, not anymore. The only ones still around are the V1, with the unequal y. Im really tempted to give in and grab a pair, because there is no way I will ever pay $800+ for headers. Im not worried about the quality, or preformance aspect, its the PITA install that gives me doubts.

Yea I think if I dont end up finding a set of equal-length headers soon, I will go this route. I think the y-pipe has to be cut somwhere and welded slightly differently, anyone know exactly where? I know I would have to shave down the motor mounts/crossmember, but what else has to be done to get them to fit?

Just had to grind some material off of the cross member and remove the shield on the rear motor mount.
