MAF sensor problem , its frustrating
MAF sensor problem , its frustrating
SO i bought a 2003 Maxima with an apexi air intake installed. Few days ago my SES light came on and the code returned pointed to MAF sensor. I took it out cleaned it still no go. I am looking online to buy sensor since dealer told me its gonna cost $600. So when i searched online, my defective sensor looks like the one from Sentra. And when i look at 03 maxima, it seems that it wont fit (screw positions are different than holes on intake).
Also there is no part number engraved on the current defective sensor.
Which one do you guys recommend, i have read online that AM600 are long lasting ones, but will it fit my after market Apexi intake?
Bring in any comments suggestions that would help me since i need my car up and running soon.

In case you haven't already noticed, what you want to do is contact DAVEB and let him know you need a replacement 2001 maf sensor. IIRC its right around $85 shipped. Then do the thermistor swap, and you'll be good to go.
Read through this thread, fix your problem and save money.

Are you noticing any other problems that are pointing to your maf? Rough idle? laggy rpm, any hesitation at wot? If not it doesn't have to be your maf.. I'd let it sit for a few days or a week or two and see if the light goes away on it's own. Happened to me. ses light for maf, however no symptons. Left it alone and a week later it went away. 7 months and clean so far.
...food for thought.
First time that happened to me, I thought my freaking engine blew. Had no clue what happened...
...that was almost 90k miles ago. ;-)
