Crappy stock 17" tires

I went this morning to fix a nail, but also to get my 2 fronts rebalanced since I was getting alot of vibs. Well to find out that both of my fronts are completely out of round. One had 50lb of weight out of round with some measuring device, the other had 20 something! Arggg! They recommend replacing them, but I don't exactly want to spend that money right now with christmas. So I told them to rotate them to the back and put the 2 left that are good to the front.

Car drives smooth again except for the rear. So I will just deal with that for now.

Crappy tires!

It's been several months since I've last posted. The modifications are coming very slowly, but things are looking good for the Spring and post holiday season. I'm planning on finally ditching those weak factory tires on my SE, next week. I'm going to keep the stock 17" wheels, though. I was hoping someone might recommend a great tire for my SE 5 speed. I drive like a freak and tend to take those turns a little heavy on the gas. No struts yet, but assume that I'll be remedying that soon. In January I should be back questioning my best intake options, as well; but feel free to recommend now too. Thanks fellas...

The same exact thing happened to me. My car only had 20,000 on the potenzas and the became out-of-round. The tire had plenty of tread life left but still handle like crap in the rain and dampness. I eventually went to the Nitto NT450 which has been a real good tire so far. I have the stock SE 17" rims (225-50-17)

tirerack sell the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in 225/50-17 which is supposed to be better in the rain and snow than the regular Pilot Sports, the rubber is supposed to be harder as well (400 rating)

the catch is they cost around $200 a piece...

No real physical problems with the stockers other than they inherently suck and are wearing fast.

I would really like to replace mine (RE92's) but want to stay right around $100.00 per tire.

Been entertaining Dunlop SP Sport A2's and Yoko YK 420's (both should fit the stock rim although they are 55 series (might be nice for a smoother ride)).

Comments guys?

These are worth the dollars.

Nice! Your tires seem to have left you with the same degree of satisfaction that I am seeking. I would, however, like to get three tires (or so) of respectable quality, such as these, to go shopping for in my area. You know, to compare and what not... Can you recommend another two that are not any more expensive than these? This is about what I expected to spend. I'll probably do the Sears gig (or something similar), as I really want them warrantied by someone who is basically everywhere. As mentioned, they're going on the stock SE rims and I'll plan to ride them out for another 2 - 3 years, before stepping up to a custom 19" wheel. I appreciate the help. I would like to have it done by the week's end in preparation for a holiday roadtrip. Thanks again.

Oh... I just wanted to see if I could attach a picture of my car. Anyway, if this worked, this is the aforementioned car in need of tread.

I just got a whole new set of Nitto 450s last week and an alignment. What a huge difference! I can actually drive in rain now...
