Loud Bang & Result.
So out for a drive, go around a turn and i hear a loud BANG, iam thinking i ran over something but i did not see anything on the road. The day before i put on new control arms so i was worried i missed something so i jacked it up today and did not see anything wrong and then i banged on the wheel and heard a noise so i looked at my springs and was abit surprised to see the the LF Spring snapped. They are Eibachs Pro Kit , I called eibach and explained they said there springs have a Million Mile Warranty so there sending me a new set yay.
Here are pics of the spring piece that broke off.The spring is still on the car and its driveable, it snapped almost near the end of the coil on the bottom at the strut seat.
Just wanted to share and see if anyone else has ever had Eibachs fail.
The rust is from just one day after it broke it was raining pretty good.

looks like its seen its fair share of salt and what not but i don't think that failure is the result of corrosion. I bet its clock was ticking from the time it rolled off the production line. Do you get one spring or all 4? This is a good example of why you buy from a reputable company that stands behind their products (except for the failure of course)

That amount of rust on an open end of untreated metal is 100% normal, its the same as your brake rotors after raining the next day.
What's not normal is the fact it snapped!
I haven't heard of that happening with aftermarket springs, only old OEM springs.

I had a similar experiance in my BMW.
The left rear stock spring snapped while pulling out of a driveway.
BMW replaced it without a question. The car had about 100K on it when it happened.
It's not as uncommom as you would think.

I had two Eibach springs snap on me. RF in October, which proceeded to shred my tire inner sidewall 360 degrees. Luckily I was only going 25 mph.
They wouldn't replace my spring under warranty because I didn't have Proof of Purchase. I bought them off a member here. Paid over $80 to replace ONE spring. Fixed, fine. I'm an idiot.
X-Mas eve comes, just bought more gifts, pull into my driveway. SNAP. LF spring snaps on me. Haven't even dealt with it yet.
Here is a pic of the RF spring:

Yes, not as uncommon as you would think. NOT that it happens "all the time" but it does happen.
I have a set of Eibach springs on my '89 Maxima. Several years ago I had the left rear go out on me. Same story, I contacted Eibach and they asked for proof of purchase as well as an image of the damaged spring and production/date code. They told me they needed this code as a reference to record and match other breaks with a specific date/metal blend used at that time.
Other than that, no questions, they sent me a complete new set of springs.....stating if one failed and it was a bad mold/metal blend (whatever term is), then all four had to be replaced. No problems since. They also sent me a new fitted hat! Yaaaa, free stuff!

Thats bananas. I cut a half coil of my Eibach front springs and ran them like that for hmmm 45k miles up in the rust belt before talking them off for H&Rs. I have heard of this happening with Eibachs in particular. Rarely of course.

It's been said, but Eibach seems to have consistently demonstrated great customer service on problems with their springs. Keep in mind that with ANYTHING mass produced there is going to be a certain percentage of error/defects in production quality. Huh, how many times have you bought somthing bad straight out of the box? Course, we're talking about springs, but as many of us that have used them on our cars, I'm not surporised there have been a handful with experiences. Again, I've heard no complaints about hardships having them replaced. So buying a good name can be the better route to take. Especially when you know they stand behind their products!

Only with Proof of Purchase will they take care of you. I offered to do anything I could to verify that these were authentic Eibachs, never abused, and I was not at fault. I didn't understand the logic. You buy a computer, warranty based on Serial #. Buy a car, warranty based on VIN#. I could take pics all day, even ship the spring to them before anything was done. I got NO answer other than to buy a replacement spring.
The worst thing is aside from higher end setups, I loved my Eibachs. I am pretty disappointed by this and now at least in the snapped spring department, I know I'm not alone.

How did you guys go about getting replacements? It took me about 2 hours of internet searching and website browsing to find the
warranty procedure and it says I should contact the dealer that sold them to me. They don't sell eibachs anymore but I do have the
receipt. I called the number on the website so hopefully they will call me back. I don't think the company that sold them to me should have
to ship back the busted springs at their expense or mine.
To make a claim, the Purchaser should contact the Eibach dealer/
distributor from which the Products were originally purchased.
The dealer/distributor should then contact Eibach to obtain a
Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number to return the Products
to Eibach. Any and all returns must be accompanied by (1)
an RGA number, (2) a sales receipt verifying the purchase of the
Products, and (3) a statement containing the Purchaser’s name,
address, make and model of the vehicle, and a brief description
of the claimed defect, including the circumstances under which
the defect occurred. Warranty related inquiries should be sent
to the following address:

Yeah, its quite common. At work (BMW Dealership) we stock a lot of rear springs because of how often they break.
