ebay headlight lense swap

I have a 5.5 and my headlight lenses are pretty ugly.

Does anyone know if the lenses on the ebay headlights would fit on the housing of the oem 5.5 gen headlights
I want to swap the lenses from the ebay lights onto my oem headlights.

Or does anybody have a picture of the back of the ebay headights? thanks

here is a link....the lenses seem to be similar to that of a oem 5.5gen headlight...its a cheaper alternative than buying new headlights

link.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...Q5fAccessories

If you look around most of the ebay headlight adds have pictures of the back of the headlights. i doubt they fit though.

have you tried polishing them? my original headlights were really hazy when i bought the car but i took some brasso to them and like 10 minutes later they looked so much better

I have ones almost exactly like that they do fit.. bigger in the back of the headlight that stock tightening up space even more in the engine bay especially on drivers side where the Fuse box battery and now back of your bigger headlight are.. the fitment on the exterior however proved to be exact fitment like they said actually.. The only problem i have had yet with these is one seal on the passenger side was slightly open allowing condensation into the headlight. i removed all condensation by leaving the back part open on a nice day then resealing the seal with Super glue and presto. no problems since.. actually seems to be decent quality... you'll save on price and ease.. however i can tell changing the bulbs on these will be extremely time consuming..

Sounds like you thought the OP was asking if this type of headlight will fit on his car, but the question I got from OP was can you bake the outter clear lenses off of the new ones and stick them on the old ones.

I'm curious about this too.

Sounds like we may have a taker for being the guinea pig on this!

I would ASSUME it fits properly, since they are "Made by OEM approved manufacturers with quality meet OEM standard"

oh and dont forget...

"Brightness Look, Improve Safety"

and

"Our Lights were use hot plate welding
Pass the1) Vibration test , 2) Salty spray test , 3) Photomatric test"

wtf ever all that means lol

I could probably tell you if they'll swap over if you post up or send me some pictures of the areas where the lens meets the headlight body

There is no way IN HELL they are going to just "bolt up" to the OEM 5.5 housing. Projector lenses CAN work in those housings but you need to quite a bit of custom work...guys on the .org have done it so maybe search for boards for their threads

Haha. Way to misread. Start over with this thread and you'll understand.

In the time it took you to write your response you could have just clarified what it was the OP was asking...you should have realized this seeing as you are so smart.

Why would I go and do that when it was clear from the start? I just decided to inform you that you had it wrong. You can spoonfeed yourself

I have a similar problem with mine. The outer plastic on my left one is cracked, and allows moisture in. Trying to find the stock HID housings "cheap" isn't easy. I am contemplating buying a complete aftermarket set of Halo's or ?? Does anyone have any recommendations of what looks good and has a good fit.

There are several different makes on fleabay, but it's hard to tell what's good, or is it you get what you pay for?

Figure I could sell my stock HID stuff for what I will pay for an aftermarket set of lights.

I have a request in to a salvage yard for a new (used) housing. Hopefully someone will come through, and I will keep my stock HID's.

Usually the right side gets smashed (left hand turns) so that will get me a good left one.

The circled area would concern me. Seems like maybe the aftermarket ones are not quite as wide here. Either that or the fitment of the front facia is not very good.

My sisters maxima (the white one with ebay lights) has been wrecked in the front end... the radiator support is still messed up, so i would assume things would be unaligned, especially since her hood doesnt close easily, and neither do the front doors... I'll try to get pics of the bottom in the next few days, but she lives an hour away

I've taken nearly every measure to clean the lenses. I have used a simple rubbing compound, I've used the 3M sanding and refinishing kit, I've had them professionally refinished, and I've also clear coated them. and you can still see the light shining through them as if they are still hazy. and that's the OEM headlights you can see in the pics above.

I'm going to try the swap as soon as someone posts in my classified ad for used cheap ebay headlights.

Clear coating headlights? That's a first.

I am going to bump this..

If youre still around, can you elaborate on why it didn't fit? Was it something that a little RTV can fix?
