will i rub if i slam the max?
im currently running 18" 350z rims on my max on the front i have 225/40/18 and the rear is 245/45/18 i currently rub everytime i hait a speed bump or anything like that. if i slam the car with a 1.5 drop will it get worse?? could it be the rear tires being to wide? also if i switch the rears (245/45/18) to the front and put the fronts (225/40/18) in the rear will it resolve this rubbing issue??

What are you riding on in the way of springs and struts? as alot of guys have the 350z rims and don't rub, you could possible have badly worn out struts or spring are to soft ... a bit more info would help

im on the OEM springs and struts, i used to rub before but very little but now i rub with everything i hit on the road. i feel like im riding on $20 ebay coil overs for the hondas.

Could be Struts
I Had pretty wide tires from a skyline i imported and they rubbed a bit but when i changed the struts everything was fine, now about lowering it im not sure because i have yet to lower my car. actually planning on doing that soon though. good luck
#5
yea i really want to lower it but im not to sure because of the rubbing, i just ordered a new set of struts, i was thinking maybe going to a smaller tire in the rear like 245/40/18 what do you think??
#6
I would think that it time to change the struts at least a good OEM replacement is Tockio Blues

wait, let me get this straight. You currently rub, and youre asking if you lower the car more will you rub the same or more????
Edit: also, what are you planning to do to "slam" it? If youre getting coilovers, then yes you can slam, look like a clown, and handle like a boat...and rub. If youre getting springs/struts, anything other than tein s-techs are not "slammed" and you *shouldnt* rub with those wheels GIVEN that your current struts are blown and not that there is something else wrong with your suspension

Have a look hear http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html scrol down to what the stock height should be and compare it to you current levels, should help to answer why your rubbing. I am KYB's and S-Tech with stock 17" rims tires are 235x50x17, my front is at 25.5" and the rear is at 25.75" and I can easily go up to 18" rims and not rub one bit.

is that where you rub? i cant get my rubbing to stop, even after centering the beam. Only rubs when I hit a big bump with 4 people in the car, so its not a dire situation. I kind of figured my setup was just too wide and it was a permanent rubbing situation. That little nub you say....?

i rub even if im by myself in the car, its bad.
would it work if i put the 245/45/18 in the front and put the 225/40/18 in the rear? maybe it will cut some of the rubbing down? what do you guys think, will it look weird??

yea i think its the struts/shocks, only reason being is i had stock oem strut/shock w/ 154,xxx miles & had 20's w/ 245-35-20 all around no rubbing at all, so if you have 18's w/ oem struts, shocks, springs you most definitly should not be rubbing

the beam is what the rear wheels are attached to, its one beam, sometimes it can be off center making one side poke out more than the other, so if you center it both sides will be even

That was my first impression as per the description of how you seem to rub more lately, Sounds like the rear end is sagging a bit ... normally the strut is becoming weak. As well the springs may also be soft adding to the sag.

Personally you should correct the sagging problem on your current suspension setup, spending 800.00 to 1000.00 for new rubber with a lower profile is only going to give you the same result ... you will be right back at rubbing because your suspension sound like it is very weak. I would definitely spend my money on the suspension first.
