cattman header y-pipe install?

Hey whats up guys. im in the middle of my y pipe and header install i finished taking off the stock y-pipe and the front header. now for the question im having a problem sliding the pre-cat out with the header. do i need to take the pre-cat off the header to get them out? or can i just slide it out the bottom or top? i tried both and im losing my mind lol i just want to know if its possible to remove the two at the same time. thanks people

I would say yeah if you got a lift but with jackstands I highly doubt it but good luck anyway

Header and cat removal

Its possible i have done it before, its allot more complex if you try to take the too off together, but if you remove the pre cat and then remove the radiator fan array you will have enough room to get the header off. it can all be done in the driveway on jack stands. just a reminder make sure that you grease the nuts that hold the header in place so they dont snap off and so its easier for you to remove it in the future. Good luck hope this helps.

Make sure you got all the bolts off, there were 2 holding mine up last I remember located near the botton, Towards the cross member. I took both of mine off at the same time since my bolts were too rusted on the precats. Unbolted the headers from block, and y pipe and it all came down as one. However I removed 2 motor mounts so I could shake the motor a bit to get more room back there with a jackstand right under the motor just incase.

for the front i just removed the radiator fan and i was able to slide out the whole header and cat together. for the rear all i did was take the cat off the header slide it out then did the header separate. didnt have to move any motor mounts or anthing for the rear just the upper manifold.

I didn't have to either, However I did remove the crossmember (which i'm sure you did) And the reason for removing 2 motor mounts was because it gave the engine play thus giving me more room to get a ratchet in there.

Removing the cross member gives you a lot of room to twist the engine forward/backwards to help you remove the manifolds.

Just remember to be a little creative. When you don't have room for something, just step back and look at it to see what you need to move or how to do it different.

I removed the IM to get to the rear manifold bolts easier, but there was no need to remove the stock fans. You can tilt the engine forward a little + the crossmember being removed gives you plenty of room to slide it right out.

^^^ yea like sparks sed jus be creative step back and look at it, theres room to wiggle around a get it out.. nd we didnt have to remove the cross member for the rear header. but we did remove the pre cat off of the header and took them out seperatly. nd the front i had to remove the fans because i only had a really deep 14mm socket so it was hard to fit in there plus i didnt think i would be able to slide the header out with the fans in the way.
