swapping gauge clusters

i'm sure it's a noob question, but i'm new to 5th gens. is it possible to simply swap out the ugly black gauges for se white faces. i know it was plug and play on my 3rd gen, but i dont see anything for 5th gens. searching only brought up 2 4th gen swaps. i just bought a 2000 gxe, it was a great deal, but i hate that it doesnt have white gauges and no sunroof.

thanks in advance from and og noob

Yes, pretty much plug and play within same generations (2k, 2k1 and 2k2,2k3). The issue you have to watch out for is mileage. Mileage is stored in the cluster and in your ECU. So, you have some options which is switch when the mileage matches from old to new gauges. Or, have the dealer update the mileage on your new cluster to match your ECU. Or, just change them out with difference in mileage and risk an issue with the care if you ever sell it and owner checks it further.

I'm not sure what the implications are with the dealer adjusting your mileage if it goes into a carfax report at that time or something else. Might want to check with your local dealer first.

if he decides to keep the mileage on his newer cluster all he needs to do is keep track of mileage he adds to it and remember the original and add em together....thats the cheap easy way out obviously... so if he sells it he can explain how he has the mileage...cause as we all know odometer fraud isnt a joke nowadays and you dont want to get bagged pulling something stupid like that
