Headers and Y-pipe from Custommaxima.com

As the title says, my friend has an 03 Maxima. He ordered these Headers and Y-pipe.
http://www.custommaxima.com/product/...s/Default.aspx

He is now questioning whether or not they will fit on his car. Since I do not know the answer to that question I figured I would post a thread and see what you guys think. Any suggestions on if it will fit?

They look just like the SS auto shorty headers and with them being short and straight Y pipe there should be zero fitment issues.

Honestly, while most everyone here will hate on them, if you don't care about a big perf. gain, but want to get rid of the engine killing stock exhaust, it's a great, cheap, replacement.

Well.. They will fit the block. However on a 5th gen they MIGHT hit the motor mounts imo. They don't look to have that good curve to avoid the motor mounts that the cattman obx v2+ have.Anyways, definitely been answered before.

Take back, I missed how short they were. Shouldn't have fitment issues. Hopefully.

I realize that just about anything will flow better than stock stuff, and that these are cheap, but is it really worth the minimal gains? I'm not hating or anything... just a serious question... I don't have headers yet, but EVERYTHING I've read says that the "shorty" headers just don't really do much...

Just getting rid of the precats is most of the gain.

Removing precats will see good gains. But at the same time, having smoother bends and transitions will increase the scavenging effect and will net some gains, too. The sharp bends in the collectors in these headers seem like they'd kind of botch the flow of the exhaust a little.

It's basic inertia, really...

but...only in theory, dont shorter length headers tend to produce more lowend and longer length headers tend to produce more top end? so there for on a Dyno which is run in 4th and very fast not show as high of numbers actually gained but a 1/4mi would?

I put the SS auto ones (identical to these) on my old 5.5 to get rid of the stock exhaust after nissan's brilliant ******** killed the engine with their failtacular design and parts..anyway...for what they cost, you can't go wrong. The flex pipe is weak, so if your mounts are crap, it will break it after a while. But even welding in a strong piece is still pretty cheap over all. The car was definitely faster.

Also, **** emission laws. Without that useless crap, we wouldn't even being having issues.

Me and a buddy with same mods. His 6mt max had shorty stillen headers. Mine had obx 3.5 headers. He had spacers but no vias and I had vias no spacers. I SLOWLY SLOWLY gained on him. Just deleting your precats is almost 75% gain imo.

I'd however always say go longer for better flow. But if you find a STEAL on shortys, i'd get them.

Just curious. Has anyone just deleted the precat and ran a straight pipe? And would I be able to pass emissions? Sure I would but just asking.

People have just gutted their pre-cats and driven and their butt dyno claims to give them power.
However the thoguht of running such a small area to a large hollow area with the collectors so short just seems pointless iimo.
