Some hoosier mounted my new tires in front today and apparently ****** something up.

Any accelerating or throttle above about 5% results in the car pulling hard to the right. When I let off the gas it immediately corrects itself. This NEVER happened before. My suspension is worn out, but I had no problems like this. When coasting it drives completely straight. Interestingly, at WOT it does not pull.
I did not have time to take it back and drove about 180 miles today. The issue never varies. Also, sometimes it feels like the tires are wobbling. I can feel it through the steering wheel.
I assume if the tires didn't balance they would tell me, so idk. He was an idiot b/c my rims are even more scarred now (didn't notice until this afternoon).

I know I'm gonna have to go back, but I need to know what I'm talking about in case it is their fault and not the tires. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

 

check to see if the lugs are all tightened.

Check the ball joint...someone one here had his just pop out recently for no reason (I know it sounds weird but I saw it first hand)

Check the axle (any leaking, breaks)

other then that....thats all that I can think of besides an alignment. An alignment is always a good idea with new tires.

 

Wouldn't the ball make a popping noise when turning sharp, though?

 

I had a similar issue about 2 months ago car would pull unexpectedly to the right under acceleration. Jacked'er up and found my control arm bushing was done. New one cost me like 90 bucks.

 

Bump remounted rims, no change. Any other ideas?

 

Just as a test only, swap the two front tires and see if the wants to go to the other side.

If it stays the same, sounds like the CV.

 

Sounds like I need to go kick some hoosier ***. There was nothing wrong with it before

 

It may just be a defective tire, that's why I told you to swap them around. Let us know!

 

That's messed up you should go back to the shop who did the job.

That was Fresh96se's solution. I was hoping to see what the OP/Child_uv_KoRn found.

 

He is active here so hopefully he will.

But pulling to the side when you accelerate is classic worn LCA bushings.

 

I put new ones on trying to troubleshoot this..

 

I wrecked it and bought one with HLSD. Problem solved

 

I had this issue too with my 2k. Power steering fluid leaked down on the lower control arm and ruined the bushings. Replaced bushings and fixed my issue

 

Thanks. Think I'm in this boat. PS fluid has been leaking for quite some time and I've ignored it (except for the occasional fluid level check and top, which it rarely seems to need). A short time ago I noticed the steering feeling less solid and a bit jerky at times, and now noticing the pull under acceleration. Will start with examining the control arm bushings.

ATF oil (which is what the power steering uses) will rot the lca bushings. This is well known to us old timers.

Replace the high pressure power steering hose, which is most likely the cause of the power steering leak.

 

Turns out my new tires were crap. Switch them left to right and see if it changes direction of pull.
