If someone has a pic of a black grill on an I35, I'd be interested to see it...

(Not to hi-jack your thread... just didn't want to start a new one for pretty much the same question.)

I got a flat black grill on my 02 maxima se if you go to my albums page. I think it looks ok but I feel like its missing something.

Looks just fine to me, although I still can't decided if I'd want to paint my Infiniti symbol black or leave it chrome. (That may be why you think there's something missing - front end needs something to 'anchor it' visually.)

Here is a side by side picture of mine. Stock vs painted semi-flat black with clear and stock chrome emblem. Sorry, images of blacked out grille are at night, so it throws off the body color, but these are the same cars.

The eyebrows are body color. The Front Stillen kit, stock side skirts, and stock mudflaps are all painted a dark/stormy gray. You can check out my cardomain for additional images/comparison.

If it was up to me though, I'd eliminate the grille entirely in it's current form. Actually, I'm working on it. I just need to bet my hands on a rough/used/slightly damaged grille to frankenstien!

I went with the body color route...Sanded down the oem grill and emblem on the front and rear and had it sprayed body color when I had the lip kit painted and the trunk repainted with less coats on the emblems so it didn't look cheap but more smoked....

Two questions:

1) Is there a specific brand of black matches our Obsidian Black the best?

2) Why is everyone saying flat black over gloss black?

it wont make a difference lol i got the gloss and flat. my grille is a shiny flat and my burger is gloss. flat is okay for a while but it depends what u want. I'm going to redo the whole grille soon. but like i said i might buy that carbon fiber one soon and throw the gloss burger on it. even better. the gloss would look good on the black car. flat would look good on any color 5th gen besides black

Those blacked out grills look great!! It really makes the Nissan badge logo stand out.

I just bought a black 5.5 SE 6sp w/ HLSD. Zero2sixtyZ and Ricerocker336 have shown me the light.

Zero, did you have chrome window trim? Did you paint it?

Any experience with it? I've thought about doing something like that but wanted input before hand (I'm not the risky type ).
