Strange voltage problem

Hey all,

Just replaced a new Duralast battery with 750CCA, then a new alternator for my 2001 Max. The alternator was a 110amp from Pepboys.

here's the problem.

Upon start up, I hooked my voltmeter up to the battery. The batter was reading 14.40 volts. I'm watching it and after 5 minutes, the voltage is now 14.30 and still dropping slowly. When I hit the gas at 14.25, the voltage jumped to 14.30. I just shut it off and went back in because I needed to eat some lunch.

The only thing I have hooked up to the battery are HID lights. They were not on. Do you think thats the culprit of the slow voltage drop?

That's because most batteries don't like to be charged above 14.1.

Check it again in like a week.
