Well, i'm not sure on the electronics, but there's abviously something different going on. But as far as physical appearance, there is a difference with the rear doors. The maxima has that flare that merges with the door. i30 doesnt have that. The front doors seem to be the same other than the molding. The i30's molding seems to have a sharper point in the front. The maxima's is a little more rounded.

The new door is from a 02? Probably a different factory color? The silver color from an I30 is not the same as the I35.
As for the switch, I replaced the woodgrain of my I30 with the lighter wood of the I35 and the I35 switch ddin't work. I assumed the switch was bad and got a replacement form the seller that didnt work either. It was an easy fix b/c I used the original switch with the new lighter wood attached. I never considered the wiring was different between the I30 and I35. I have 2 switches that do not roll down the passenger's window or unlock the doors on my I30. I like reading your posts (except this one, of course) and plan to use your thread about the VSS wire, and as a thanks you're welcome to one for the cost of shipping.
