Re: "03" Max!!!!!!!!

Nissan does plan on moving production of the Maxima to the US of A. However, the next gen, according to my sales rep won't be RWD. He says that Nissan Corporate is going to split configs between Nissan and Infiniti, i.e. Nissan cars will ALL BE FWD, and all Infiniti will be RWD.

Wow, a newbie comes through with a solid smart-*** post like that. I'm bitter...I was hoping to be the first ultra-sarcastic respond to this thread.

I wonder if this could lower prices any since they would not have to be importing them? Do other overseas cars get made here... Honda or anyone else?

Sounds fishy...that would increase production costs for Nissan SIGNIFICANTLY as the two platforms are, currently, closely paired. I would suggest that the last thing Nissan/Infiniti/Renault needs right now is a significant increase in production costs.

Re: Re: Re: "03" Max!!!!!!!!

Not really fishy...
I would agree that costs would be somewhat higher, but not prohibitive. AND the plan makes sense if Nissan is trying to differentiate the brands. Don't the Toyota Avalon and the GS300/400 run on the same, but slightly modified platform? Anyway, just what the dealer told me, not anything in the press.

Infiniti has to do this to be competitive. Infiniti is supposed to be Nissan's luxury division and look at the players in the luxury market. Lexus, MB, BMW and Audi have mostly all RWD or AWD sedans and 1 value leader semi-luxury FWD sedan, people denote FWD w/cost cutting which seems to be true since FWD is the standard on low to mid 30K premium cars and virtually every economy car priced below 30K.

Cliff Notes: You gotta pay to play in this market.........

I don't know...I think FWD was/is associated with better traction and a safer driving experience. I don't believe it was originally developed into the market to cut costs. RWD is associated with performance. I could be wrong...just guessing.

4WD like a truck? Cool! I was hoping for AWD, but 4wd is ok too!

I also heard the 2010 Maxima will have those ultra cool windshield washer nozzle lights and underbody neons!

And to top it off, the 2010 Max will have a clear hood.

I am glad we have someone here on the forum that has such great insight into the future if Nissan to tell the rest of us. You must have already known about the '03 max for 5 or 6 years now.

uh duh! We all have a copy of Nostradomus's book of "The Future of Automobiles". Each quatrian describes a different year and car manufracturer.

On a seriously note:

People have been posting about this mysterious 2003 Maxima for 8 or more months now. Ever since first word of the 2002 Max was to be coming with 260hp (originally) there have been a rumour mill circling the specs of a 2003 Max.

did i offend you about the nozzle lights? I got a set on my car. My friend has a 88 Supra. He has 3 sets. Two for the windshield nozzles. Two for the headlamp washers. and one for the rear windshield. It looks like an ufo.

Man - u ppl start so many rumors
Now u have all those unknowing readers think there is a SUPER MAXIMA hiding in their dealership ..

When we see on 20/20 that someone robbed a Nissan dealership ... we'll kno why

oh ... and to add to the hype
The New 2003 Maxima is going to have an optional Dual NOS flogger system good for a 200hp total shot. And the car comes stock with 300hp at all 4 wheels w/ AWD and a Helical LSD and Cusco suspension. It's going to be smaller than the 2002 Civic Hatchback and weigh an astonishing 2300 pounds !!

As a matter of factly ..
the front and rear seats fold down to make a clear leather vibrating bed

also - the seats all have a built in massage and heat padding option, the front windshield projects a TV, and the ash tray's spring is made of solid gold !!

just reminded me...
that I almost forgot to mention the heat seeking missles hidden behind the fog lights and the vibrating neon steering wheel with controls to the keg(mounted on the roof like a spoiler) and twisler dispenser(in the dash)

i think you all are forgeting about the little switch right by the cruise control, so when u cruise and have little or no use of your legs, at the press of a button miss america jumps out of the vibrating bed and lands on your lap,,,,,i guess nissan is desperate for sales,,,,,,,,,,,

The production costs won't be much at all. Remember, the G35, Altima and 350Z already share the same unibody design, and engine(350Z is RWD, so RWD isn't a problem). Reconfiguring will be done pretty easily.
