Clutch Master Cylinder - how to install?

Hello.

Clutch pedal has low pressure... I tried to bleed the system by loosening the bleed screw and push the pedal in... but then when I tighten the screw, the clutch doesn't even come back when I pump it.... so I suppose the master is shot.

How do you get to the 2 nuts on the engine side of the firewall? do you have to take the reservoir off?

Thanks.

I used a small 1/4" ratchet with a small 3" extension if i'm not mistaken. But try a bunch of different combinations of short ratchets, short extensions, swivels and sockets. Whatever works the best. Just keep working at it and you'll eventually get it.

did you have to get the reservoir off to reach the lower nut?

also, did you have to bench bleed the new master cylinder before installing it?

thanks.

Nope and nope.

Just make sure you get the master cylinder from Nissan. DO NOT GET IT FROM A RETAIL AUTO PARTS STORE.

what is the resevroir motor?

anyway, I managed to get half way thru today.... pried the reservoir off to give myself more room... got a flexible neck flare rench (12mm/10mm), and got both nuts loose.... tried to turn the hydraulic line screw with the wrench, no luck, rounded out the hex nut... had to use a vise grip to pull the nut out...

so far so good, tomorrow will unhook the rod from the pedal.

thanks guys for your help.

by the way - I already bot an after-market master cylinder from partsgeek.. I guess it's no big deal since I am doing it myself..... I was gonna order a nissan original part if I can't pull it myself and have to take it to a shop.

this was not fun !!!!!!

@!#$#@$@%$ !~!!!!

this was not fun !!

so I tried to put the new one back on... goodness that tight space was pain in the you know what!

and that was not the worst.. had to put the hydraulic line in blind, and realized that I stripped the thread after 2-3 half turns.. had to back it out... and the nightmare started... tried a few hours to screw the the line back in, no luck... no way to put any pressure on the nut.

desperation set in

took desperate measures - took the cylinder off, and dragged the hydraulic line out, so I have some space to push the nut to screw it in.... then had to really force the cylinder back on to the firewall bolts.... took some more pain to put the nuts back on.

the bleeding part was the easiest comparing to the nightmare I had to go thru.

finally it's all done.... darn those engineers... this design totally sux.

still got the satisfaction that I did it myself though
