Clutch Bypass

I can't make it add up to anything else either.
Remote start capability scares me enough as it is - and if there's been any "unauthorized tinkering" done with one I would plan on something unpleasant happening sooner or later. It is not possible to guarantee that it won't.
mystic - did you hear about the guy with the remote start MT Mustang a while back?
Manual tranny car + remote start + no interlocks/defeated interlocks + car in the shop for servicing/left in gear/P-brake not set = dealership employee inadvertently sent the car for a swim in the pond out behind the shop.

On the 5.5 you can install a remote start safely without a special remote start. Installing a relay to ground the clutch when the remote start status output wire is energized and hooking up the nuetral safety wire to the correct wire at the ecu. The 5.5 6 speed does have this wire. I have a remote start installed this way on mine. if in any gear it will not remote start and send an error to my remote. Not to sure if the 5 gen has this wire. If it doesnt id get a remote start designed for standard transmissions or dei sells a add on module. This module or remote start makes you do a special sequence when parking and turning off your vehicle in order for it to remote start the next time. On DEI products (viper and clifford and more) I believe the sequence is stop pull up the ebrake put the car in nuetral press the remote start button (not sure) take the key out of the ignition exit the car and then lock the door with the remote. the car will remote start the next time as long as the unlock button wasnt pressed or any door was opened. The car stays running until the lock button is pressed. This ensures the car was running and not in gear with you out of the vehicle. If a door is opened first the system will not remote start in fear someone put it into gear.
