Replacing Rear Seat Belt

Have been searching and read the FSM, how big of a deal is replacing the seat belts?

I thought you can access from the trunk and unbolt it, but it does not seem easy.

There's a screw that holds the canister and it looks like you have to tear down the deck to get to it. Means you have to remove the entire back seat.

For those you have parted their Max, are very familiar with this and would appreciate tips on how to replace the rear seat belt.

I only have one defective belt.

Thanks.

this is from my memory of 2+ years ago... but, I think you can get to it farily easy. You have to remove the rear seat, then remove some bolts to get the backrests off, then you can remove the panels, then get to the rear deck.

I added sound deadening material to the seatbelt holders along with the rear deck... pretty sure that's how I did it.

ah.. just found the link to housecor's site.

Reading through the link DIY, looks like the key is to remove deck cover via snapping the hooks underneath. It will then expose the seat belt mounts, then I can unbolt the assembly.

Great.

its not to hard more tedious..remove bottom rear seats..remove two 10ml bolts for each side..then unbolt the two piece back section...then pop off the rear side panels from the headliner to the rear deck-lid...remove pop-clips behind rear seats...pull yr deck-lid up and towards the front of the car..the u should be able to access the seatbelt assembly..

Housecor's DIY did not mention removing the side panel-trim.

With seatbelts, I think the only place I would buy from IS the dealer.

Browse the classifieds, tons of part outs. Seat belts are easy to find. That's where I got mine. I only have 1 busted and have 2 spares (1 center and 1 side).

Replaced one of my rear seat belts today. The FSM was detailed on exactly what had to be removed to get to the seat belts.

The hardest thing was to remove the side panel. But once you yank out the 1st metal clip, you are good to go.

But the busted seat belt is no longer.
