Oil strainer

Just curious, my oil strainer is a little beat up, has a few holes in it. Should it be replaced or not necessary? Just wondering if it is something I need to look for. Thanks much for help. Has anyone else ever had this issue?

It is the strainer located right above the lower oil pan.

fail on my part - I was thinking of a post where someone was asking why there were holes in the inside of his oil filter. I really need to get more sleep...

I've honestly never heard of anyone here replacing the pan strainer, nor know how exactly it would get "beat up"....

It just has a couple holes in it, I don't think it is a big deal its not like its clogged or anything.

What have I missed.......I'm still trying to figure out this "oil strainer"!! Is he talking about the oil baffle/windage tray? Or......the pump inlet screen?

I would assume he means the pump inlet screen. The oil baffle/windage tray doesn't really "strain" anything per se...
