Too bad he holed a piston on the next run. Car is back at Dallas Performance getting a stronger block, pistons, crank, etc along with some added displacement, more cam, etc. Shooting for 1400-1500 hp.

Of course, I have no problem beating him in my Maxma.

Actually, he had an Acura TL for a while (daily driver) that he wanted to race me in but we never got around to it.
On a side note, I think those Ford GT's have the regular Ford 302 with improved heads and various other things...

I was actually debating on buying a 90-93 Mustang GT and swapping a 351 before I got my Maxima, but I decided that it wasn't practical.

you know, i can never figure out how V8's can put out power like that, but then have motors like the 2JZ that can match that same power. granted most supra's packing that much of a punch are dyno queens but still...

your close....it's actually 328 which would put it at a 5.4L and then that nice Eaton sittin' on top.
and your 90-93 choice may not have been practical but not a bad choice at all. you can get those little 302's into the 12's for just under $2500 and trapping over 100+ mph in the 1/4.

There is one Ford GT in Florida putting out nearly 1700 hp and hit 266.9 in a standing mile. As far as I know, that is still the record for a streetable car. At least until I run my Maxima down the mile.

I know my automatic is limited to 130, not sure that would matter-be a stretch to hit that with a mostly stock 4AT 5.5 gen but it would be fun (and legal!) to do.

ive driven my 4th gen i30 and a 2002 acura tl and my i30 blows it away.

It doesnt even make sense on paper but its very dramatic.

part of what makes those hondas have such high paper hp numbers isnt going to help from a stop.

If you are refering to just straight line performance then, the Max has the edge but the TL has us beat in just about every other category (ride quality, handling, fit/ finish, cust service, resale value, etc)

If you want to discuss general characteristics of the cars, there should be a thread in the Other Cars forum, if you want to discuss 1/4 mile or track performance, there's a forum for that too, if you want to discuss street racing, well... hopefully ya'll know better.
