smell of burned oil and check engine light

Last night I started my car and immediately I smell burned oil coming through the vents but the car runs just fine. Later I checked the oil and it was a little low but not bad so I topped it off. Well now this morning I'm getting a check engine light. I wont have time to go get it checked out until after work but what do you think it could be, considering the burned oil smell?

Have you recently changed the oil and perhaps spilled some on some exhaust components, causing it to burn? Your oil cap still on there?

I actually haven't changed the oil in a while (I'm running synthetic) but it's probably about time for a change

check to see if it is coming out anywhere on your engine or if there is buildup anywhere

second, pull the code, that will tell you ALOT more than we already know and then go fromt there

good luck

Got it checked during my lunch break, pulled 2 codes 1st is the small leak evap system or whatever, I didn't bother to write that one down it's no big deal. 2nd is P1800 - VIAS Control Solenoid Valve Circuit. The guy tried explaining it to me but I don't think he really knew himself, Can you guys fill me in on what exactly the VIAS control solenoid valve is and what it does? and what do I check? or do I just replace the solenoid?

Cool thanks, I will have to check the connection and hoses after work. Where is it located exactly?

So the hose going into the manifold had a split on the bottom so I cut the split section off and reconnected it. Electrical connection looks fine, other hoses look fine. I disconnected the battery to see if the cel would go away but it does not. does this mean the solenoid needs replaced?

I can't seem to find a solenoid online anywhere. Is this a dealer only part?

Make sure that is the problem first. Test it. No, it wont hurt anything.
