SubscribeCan someone please list all of the most impostant COMMON mechanical causes that can cause sluggish acceleration response In an 6 speed 5.5 generation mamxima? Considering that clutch and motor are fine....
And when i mean sluggish, i mean 0-60 in 8-9 seconds (as if the ebrake is on) type sluggish...

As always, I'd check the MAF sensor. That's the cause of almost everything on 5.5 gens.
Are you getting any check engine lights?

Agreed. A lot of people dont realize and check their tire pressure regularly, but underinflated tires are KILLER for performance and fuel economy. Also regular maintenance like air filter, oil changes etc can really make a difference. Not saying an oil change will free up 30 horsepower, but you get the point...every little bit counts. Check the basics first.Originally Posted by Rochester

Also those codes you have, do you have a block plate? A block plate may cause a VIAS code (P1800). As for the P0328(KS), do you know if it is a current code or a pending code? It may be a history code, and stored in there from when there was a problem. Try clearing the codes and see what comes back.

About the VIAS... disconnecting the solenoid, or improperly capping the vacuum leads, could cause a VIAS code. That's why you leave the solenoid switch alone when you delete the VIAS valve. Delete the valve and the tank, but not the switch. The ECU needs to keep thinking it has a VIAS system to talk to.Originally Posted by byrdman164

How does the car respond? Does it Bog after 5K rpm? Mileage? It could be clogged cats as others have mentioned. Call Cattman

It only checks itself electrically and has no "performance monitors" to even tell if the VIAS is functioning aside from the solenoid.
