weird dome light issue

i recently got some hyperwhite bulbs to replace my map and dome lights. the map lights went in fine, as did the dome light. however, i notice that the dome light emits a slight glow even when it's in the 'door' position and all the doors are closed. i have temporarily turned it to the completely 'off' position, as i'm concerned it's going to drain my battery - albeit slowly - if it's on all the time. anyone have any info on this? and yes, i did search, and i googled... thanks in advance

i have an 03 gle fwiw

My dome light LED panel does exactly the same thing. Although my door panel LED's don't, which is weirdly inconsistent.

I'm sure someone electrically minded here can explain. But it's faint, and they're LED's, so the power drain is almost nothing. I ignore it.

I can't really say what's causing it, but I can say that any current flowing through the LED was also flowing through the incandescent bulb. LEDs require less current to operate in general, so the small amount of current flowing is just enough to get it to light up a bit.

so it's fine to leave it turned to the 'door' position even though it's essentially on all the time? i know LEDs draw less power, but i can rest assured that it's not gonna be constantly killing my battery? i never noticed the light remaining on when i had the old bulb in there. is that because LEDs are just so much brighter that it's noticable to the naked eye?

No, I'm pretty sure it's because LED's require such little wattage to activate.

What AJM said -- that the current was always there in the circuit anyway, even with the filament bulbs. I've had my LED panel in for over a year now without issue. And there are times where the car doesn't get driven for a week or more.

I changed my dome light also and i noticed the same thing. At first I was paranoid about it but I double checked mine a little later and noticed that the light eventually turned off..so i'd assume it would be the same for your car. I'm driving an 01'
