I'm guessing different bar materials and design go a long way towards whether or not you need that center brace. Racingline's FSTB bar doesn't have any flex to it, even though it's light as a feather. I'm guessing the Stillen bars don't either.
But I still give you props for being far more industrious than me.
I just want to buy one already designed and tested. An attractive one, too, for a reasonable price. Hence this interest thread.

I get what your saying. if they made a rstb i like and was priced right i would have gotten it. it seems alot of things i buy or look at arent always made as strong as they could be. Also i tend to over engineer stuff.

Purchase both tower braces from Stillen, and you're talking $338 US. That's a lot of coin for what you're buying. You'd be better off using that money to upgrade your struts.

I'd be all over a rear strut tower brace if a good one is available. I previously had an awd eagle talon, and oddly enough, the rear tower strut brace is the one mod that really tied the car's suspension together, or made it feel like a finished product handling wise. I know it's an apples to oranges comparison since that car was awd and not fwd like our maximas, but it was an amazing mod in that car to say the least.

The Racingline FSTBs I saw in person this weekend looked like nice pieces. The flanges were more substantial looking than most and the bar itself has a nice clean design.

I would have totally been down for this, I bought the FSTB based on Rochester's reviews but sadly I coughed up the extra cash for the ugly stillen RSTB already.

2 points connecting the towers together helps but 3 is always better. I would speculate that Cattman ftsb is/was the best out there as it had solid welded ends iirc.

Materials aren't the only thing in play with a strut tower brace. Both ends are still hinged and will move. Also the bar will shift side to side if its not a 3 point bar.

I heard from Joe five days ago, when he said he'd jump in here with his perspective on this proposal. No updates since that time, except a bump in the number of people who said they would purchase one.

Yeah, that old Cattman Ti-bar was a very attractive and unique design. Materials were wicked expensive, though, requiring a high, Stillen-like price point.
Last time I talked to Brian Catts about his FSTB, he didn't share any plans for a new design. Certainly nothing about a RSTB. But that was a year ago, maybe something has come up.
In the meantime, I think there's a better shot at getting Racingline to pursue a matching RSTB. I'm personally interested in that route since I already own and like their FSTB. Selfish of me, but there it is.

As for Rochester post. There is one person who has identified they are local to mainline. If you all would be willing to kick up a pot for his time. Is be willing to donate a twenty to him for being the test donkey. A couple people doing so could cover his lunch gas and such and TIME for setting there.
As well Rochester if you ask if he would take an upfront security deposit to show were serious and how many people are necessary I think we could get it rolling...BTW I won't be getting one :-) but just to get a product made that my priorities may change to in the future makes it worth kit to me. Sorry for the book.

Um, huh? Have you spoke to this person? Did he actually ask for money to compensate him for his participation? That seems kind of awkward. I suppose it would be easy enough to scatch together a free lunch and some gas, but again... awkward.
That's not bad. I think we'd all like it if Joe jumped into this thread and addressed these ideas personally.

This afternoon, I received email from Joe at Racingline Performance. He asked that people interested in a RSTB hang tight as this is looked into. And he's asking for involvement from someone with a 5th Gen Maxima in the Vancouver area.

I have a different concern, whether or not I would have clearance issues for a rtsb due to the subwoofer box that I have installed in my trunk. Even so, I'd still take the risk since it'd likely be easy enough to resell the bar on the forum if it didn't fit.

Pulsar, that bar you posted looks pretty awesome...looks like something that'd be relatively cheap to fabricate, too, considering it looks(?) like it's made of aluminum.

Hey guys sorry for the late arrival, it's been a busy summer and I was on vacation the last week. Once I hear back from Matt (merlot max) we'll see how soon I can get a sample put together. I have no problem getting a sample put together, but I would like to see some more feedback about design. I know in the past Matt has had extremely busy schedules (we've met before) so finding a time might prove difficult but we'll see.
I can make it just like the stillen one is made ( laying horizontal/parallel to the trunk floor) so that it matches the fstb, or I can possibly mount the bar perpendicular so that the bar runs along the back of the seat leaving more space for sub boxes ( might hinder amp mounting slightly). Or I can possibly even make it as an "X" brace that mount to the top seat belt anchor locations and the struts ( will cost a bit more, but will still be fairly flat to the seat back)

If you need someone near by BC to prototype it, I'd be willing to try. I'm about 1.5-2 hours from BC. I've been meaning to get a FSTB, might as well look at doing the complete set?
