Need some help finding OEM Navi unit for 02 Max

So the climate control button on my 02 busted off & now the a/c simply WILL NOT come on, (naturally right at the start of the hottest week of the year). I've gotten confirmation from 3 places, including Nissan, that I need to replace the entire navi/climate control unti. Great.

There's doesn't seem to be anything up on either eBay or carparts.com at the moment. Given how many cars Nissan sold with this unit I can't imagine finding one should be all that difficult. Can someone hit post a few leads? Its 96 today and I have GOT to get my a/c working!

thx

Call junk yards and such if you can you can probably just get a climate control from an 02 and itll probably still work.

I don't think it's that simple, but if it were, I would suggest to the OP to go that route.

It will not be easy to find an OEM Navi for sale.

My sentiments exactly. Turns out its....nearly impossible. Believe me, I've had 2 guys look at it who are very good electrical engineers & both reached the same conclusion, "you have to replace the entire unit".

sux.

Sorry, man. Can you please clarify this sentence, "...I would suggest to the OP to go that route."

The a/c works just fine (to the best of my knowledge). The problem is the actual button used to turn it on. Which only magnified the frustration. I'm sitting there in 96 degree heat at a stop light & I've GOT a/c - just can't use it!

Appears I'm not exactly alone.

I'm somewhat surprised this hasn't reared its head on this forum more frequently.

I also have a nav unit in my 02. Touch screen controls for a/c and heat. It is only a matter of time before something fails. I almost bought one I saw on eBay last month just to have a back up. There a shops here in NY that say they can repair any nav system. This is a big problem with older Lexus models also, so keep researching. I will keep an eye on this thread if I hear anything positive

that link doesnt work..those with stock navs on their 5th gen are far and few. fewer on the org. fewer with this problem displayed here.

may need to look into middle east or australia ebay...assuming you can just use your current cd. those nations likely had a lot more cars with the nav units.

Im selling this. BELOW.. CHECK MY LINK IN THE SIG... STOCK UP ON A SPARE... better than 1k+ with dealer.

these are the pics of the navi unit. Let me know if you are intersted. If not I am installing it in my brothers 5thgen. its from a 2001 qx4. The infiniti logo can be made into nissan with a software update.

I installed this into my 96 i30t. Then took it out and was gonna put it in my brothers car cause he doesnt have a navi and my phone has navi built in with traffic update for free. But if someone wants to buy it....

I have everything to get this working in a 5thgen i30/i35/maxima. Including the AC auto Amplifier. This is the unit needed to get the navi to control the temp. The amplifier is the brain of the climate control system. ALL COME WITH PIGTAIL HARNESS.

well I dont know if SOXRULED0 knew what he was talking about or not, BUT the screen is only a display/Control switch for climate control. The screen controls communicate with an AC auto AMPlifier that is behind the dash. Similar to a 96 maximas climate control where the BCM had the climate amplifier in it and the pushbutton on the console was just a switch.

Any how I have everything to add this to a maxima that already has auto climate control but does not have factory navi minus the radio trim.

im lost. you are saying that its an internal problem and you a/c wont kick on?

i have the same thing and all i do is hit auto and the a/c comes on with that...also you can hit the defrost button and the a/c should come on with that and then hit the vent selector button

My unit has all the a/c and heater controls in the touchscreen of the Nav unit. When my screen goes out I can't get anything working. It's ok to be lost, I'm lost and I have nav

mine has the *** for the temp, the vent, defrost and auto, eco buttons on the side. theoretically if the screen went out the only thing you couldnt do would be to increase or decrease the amount of air coming out of the vents
