timing advance and vias code
Hey guys,
I had my timing advanced by Zeead today (zero2sixty7) and he showed me that i had two things showing up on his computer. First was a vias code. I did delete the vias altogether and unplugged the solenoid. So i went home today and reattached the plug to make the ecu think it is still there. Second he stated i was at 13 degrees stock, but my car is in the Northeast and was purchased in NY, so he was only able to advance it to 15*.
So my question is will throwing the vias code (dont know P#) retard the timing from 15 to 13? Will reconnecting the connector and relearning the ecu bring timing back to stock +2*?
By the way his car is sick looking person.

i dont have any other codes. i was just curious as Zeead said i was reading 13* stock. but i was under the impression it was 13 if you were say in cali with crap gas or in the mountains like colorado. i thought North east cars were 15 or so. its a subtle difference. not break your neck but feels like the power has shifted slightly to the bottom end bit. like Nmexmax states it does have a slight tone difference as well

I've used my Autoenginuity to do timing advances before, and I have noticed various 5.5 gens between 13-15 stock. The AE only allows me to advance it +/-2 degrees anyways, so it's within safe region, but the original 13 me questioning. I used to be at 15deg stock, and when my random p0300 started showing up, mine went to 13deg. Any correlation or is there something else?
Edit: Always use 93, never seen regular in this car.

Yup, seen this a lot on Maximas and g35's. Lot's of them are only at 13 stock. Not sure why. But sometimes if you reset the ECU then do the timing advance it will go to 17. I even had one car that was at 13. I pushed it up to 15. Then a few months later he asked me to try it again. It was already at 17. So sometimes I wonder if autoenginuity is actually reading the correct timing

I did the ecu relearn listed here on the forum. Added to vias solonoid like Zeead said i should do to clear the vias code. I dont notice a difference tonight from this afternoon when Zeead did the advance but like i said its slightly noticeable. Especially from a dead stop or 2k and under up higher i dont think i notice it. I can say this... with before at 13 i had a hard time even spinning the tires unless it was wet. Going home it was dry and took off from a stop and got the tires spinning. So theres that haha. No Zeead got my curiousity peaked with the carpc thing.
Nmexmax.. i dont know if you might know this...My father is a mechanic and has a scanner.. just to read codes and clear codes and diagnose problems. I have used it before to clear codes and was wondering if that would also let you read what the engine is doing. i know ive seen it reading engine temp, inj volt and stuff.. that would also let me see base timing correct? So i could at least view if the timing is still at 15 or went up or down? i think the scanner is a Snap-On scanner like this..prob not hte same model but looks just like it
Ps- Zero dont think i ever put less than 93 in any car ive had even my Beretta
