Timing issue

So I was just reading from my OBDII and noticed my timing is off. Sitting at 12/13 at idle.
Car gets only 93, and has an occasional P0300 when sitting at a constant RPM (whether at idle or if I literally stay on the highway at the same speed for a long time).
Tried advancing it +2, and it stayed at 12/13.

Maybe a bad knock sensor?

obd2 port is not the best way to check your timing. Look again in a day or two and it will probably be where you want it to be. I've had this happen quite often with autoenginuity

Thank you. I'm using the Autoenginuity as well. I just reset the ECU the other day, so I will try again today and tomorrow after driving it a bit.

I'm also diving into this P0300 issue. Starting with the PCV, and going down the FSM listed things to check.

I'll report back guys.

Shouldn't the P0300 issue be DIRECTLY related to this?

I would imagine if I'm misfiring, it's going to retard the timing. I'll check it again today and then go down the list. I almost hope its the clogged cat/precats. Serious excuse for some headers...

Assuming you mean 12/13 deg. BTDC as opposed to ATDC, your ignition timing is within the '02 FSM limit of 15 deg. +/- 5 deg. BTDC. This is for basically no loads at the warmed up correct idle speed of 625 +/- 50 RPM (for your MT). You cannot change the ignition timing with a standard OBDll scantool. Nissan's Consult ll is required. What's happened to the search links?

You can do it with the Autoenginuity w/ Nissan Interface or the Cipher. It is within spec, but did not advance when I added +2.

Removed oil catch can setup, figured there might be a leak there...
and bam. Reset the code, let the car idle for a long time and no P0300. Checked timing, whether it was due to the P0300 loss or not, running at 17 BTDC.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, even though it is within spec, they should be running at 15. Did you change your idle at all? I had mine set at +75 but after seeing that "spec" is +/-50, I reduced it to 50 just in case it tripped anything.
