Maxima Geniuses, help with electrical issue PLEASE!

Hi,

a few months ago, my 2002 maxima while stopped at a light would no longer rev up... would idle, but not rev. Dealer diagnosed it as a bad alternator which fried the battery... no juice, means no computer allowed rev...

So, they replaced the alternator and the battery. All seemed well until it happened today... just lost power and it would only idle and the dash started lighting up like a Christmas tree. Would idle fairly well, but one by one the warning lights would come on.

I have noticed on initial startup over the last few months, the battery light would flicker briefly and then go off...

Any ideas... seems pretty remote that this alternator would fail this quickly...

Thanks much all!

If possible take it to an auto part store and have them run diagnostics on the battery & alternator.

The last time something like that happened to me it was my alt.

Sounds like it's either the alt or battery. Something is sucking the juice out of that battery.

Well I used to rebuild starters and alts for 10 years and what you are describing sounds like what happens when a voltage regulator goes bad and over charges the battery.first thing to look for is the battery swelling and then check to see if the output voltage from the alt is putting out over 15 volts at idle if you continue to run the car like this you will damage relays and such.
