2k2 vs 97 s420

Hi guys just wandering. My cousin has a 97 Benz s420 and always killed me when I had my 95 GLE now that I have a 2k2 se auto do I have a chance of repaying the favor . I know he don't have any mods, he is running about 275hp and his Weight is around 4600 lbs. plus he has really heavy 18's. So should I venture into these uncharted waters, please give any advice.

My family has a '97 S420. The S420s are somewhat slow off the line, given their weight and gearing. You would probably take him up to about 60 or 80 m.p.h., after 80 mph, the big benz starts to shine, so it would be pretty close, I would imagine. However, I've never raced our 420 against my Max (2001 5 speed), but it would be an interesting race.

your car has 255hp and weighs like 3200...his car is 275 which is only 20hp difference....and his weighs 4600...which is almost half more. You should kill him so bad...he won't even look at your car cuz he'll be so way back

I think it's closer to 4100. They are pretty big, but MB uses a lot of aluminum to keep the weight down.

Yes around that neighborhood. I use to have a 98 S320 and that thing wieghted (according to the label) 4,656 lbs. The S600's are closer to 5,000lbs. For their wieght, they sure are fast.

S420

The s420 was tested by Motor Trend(2k model) and poseted a 15.2 1/4. A 2k2 auto should take him. Plus they are heavy as hell and limited to 130mph.

Clear things up

The 1997 S420 weighed in at 4650 pounds.
The 1997 S600 weighed in at 4960 pounds.

The 2002 S430 weighs in at 4133 pounds.
The 2002 S600 weighed in at 4488 pounds.

Yes, MB shaved off quite a bit of weight for the new redesign. And they should have. The Suburban weighs in at 4914 pounds!!!

The 2K2 Max should beat him fairly easily as long as he is stock.
