Does this sound about right for a body shop to replace (paint and all) the front bumper on a black AE?

That sounds about right! I just had both bumpers replaced and the front was $630 and the back was $600.

 

just get a new bodykit

That actually sounds low. I paid (or my insurance) forked out
$1000.00 to paint and replace a front bumper. But then I'm in
Silicon Valley where everything is more expensive.

 

I paid approx. $1,600 for new front bumper and hood after bumping a huge SUV, which included labor, installation, & painting. Peace.

 

My rear bumper was replaced after a minor collission about three months ago. The total for the bumper, liner, paint & minor realigning of the trunk was a wopping $2,300. I would venture to say that you guys have been getting prtty good deals. By the way, my insurance covered the whole hit.
