2009 vq35 swap in 2003

As most of you know my 03 engine burns oil like a mo'fo.
I know the 04-08 engine can be swapped in no problem, along with less problems and a little more power. But the 2009 engine is even better with 290 hp.
Any info on the possibility of this beeing done ?

Thanks !
Frank

There actually minor differences in the top end of the motor. But I doubt that makes that much of a difference in power.

exactly...it makes 35 more hp...in a 6th gen...doesnt directly translate to a 290hp 5th gen

Just called at local nissan stealership.
04-08 fits alright along with minor mods. over priced for what I can find in a junkyard.
2009 is even more difficult to swap. same size and all but there are too many things to do for it to work i was told. Not even mentionning the price....10 grand CDN$ .
Rebuilding my engine is about 2.5 grand
At the scrap yard close by, there is a 2003 with an engine that was rebuilt 1 month before totaled, no price for now because the person did not come and get paid for the totaled car.
Opting for Deckd's engine is obvisouly the best option. Will wait to see if i can my hands on the engine clsoer to me though first.
Thanks for the help guys

ok, I was confused for a second. And just as moncef said, the heads have earily similar specs to the HR Z. Not sure about the bottom end. The IM has 2 "VIAS" Not sure how they opperate though.

But basically, without something to control all this stuff, it wont make enough power to warrant spending extra money to swap it in.

I think you should buy Deckdout2's motor, its just sitting there...in the garage...lonely... waiting to be swapped in.

Go ahead, give it a good home.

Looks like this is probably just looking to get on the road without having to keep a case of oil in the trunk.

we did the swap in my cuzin 5.5 6spd, everything bolts and plugs up except the cam sensors, so if u decide to do dat swap make sure u get the harness for that motor also. other than that, car starts fine and runs hard as ****tttttttttttttttttttt

I'm not in an extreme rush to get another engine right away. Besides, my engine only has 96xxx miles on it (157xxx km on my canadian odometer). I may also have a 2003 6 spd parts car soon. 2003 engine rebuilt in it 1 month before the guys accident. I'll have more info on this soon enough.

Don't you hate when someone knows something and won't share it. Now in two weeks when someone posts a thread asking about this, someone will tell him to "search", and they will, only to stumble upon this thread, which leaves us with one big cliff hanger.

Does the 09 have vtc on the exhaust? If so that pretty much tells you what you will need for the swap and what ecu.

the 07-08 altima does not have exhaust VTC, so even if the 09 max did, you could swap the cam gears out for altima ex gears and have just intake VTC, I think someone did this on an HR motor a while back with some huge cams...

I would think it would be a pain to use the 09 ECU also. I remember reading something about where the NATS antenna was in the ECU for the 2002-2003 ECU's but it was in the BCM for the 04+ ECU's (or vice versa).

Then you would have to modify your wiring harness for the exhaust VTC wiring.

If someone really wanted the exhaust VTC, they could get a V-Manage or something.

I thought the 07+ Altima had the same heads as the 09+ Maxima. If what you say is true, it might be better to just get an 07+ Altima engine.

The 09+, which this thread is about, does indeed have CVTC on the E cam.

Do you know if the 07+ Altima does? Someone above mentioned that it does not, so you wouldn't need the 09 ECU if you got the 07+ Altima exhaust cam gear. That's what I was getting at.

If it does have Ecvt then you have to swap over the older timing stuff, similar to VQ30 to VQ35 swaps.

OR wire in the other ecu

OR does the car still run without the cvt plugged in then you could just swap it in with the ecvt being at a set position(but i don't think it works that way)

It's the same one (engine) as the one in question.

V-manage?

Didn't make 265 hp in the 6th gens either, when the government went to one standard for HP rating, the 6th gens dropped to 255 hp.

The main reason you get gains is you are putting in a fresher engine and if it isn't using oil like your original engine, you also have higher cylinder pressure.

so to swap an 08 vq35 you do not need any modifications whatsoever right???
Can anyone confirm this?
