You might get a better answer in the advanced suspension, chassis, and braking section. I also know there is a bunch of them on ebay.

its garbage.... would rather save up a bit more for ap racings. for that much you can put a killer wilwood together and still have money left over for for a touch screen headunit. 11" rotors are a joke and so is the overkill 6 pistons (althought it looks like 8 in the pictures)......

z32 bbk for $500 is plenty already.. or:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Big-B...ts_Accessories

done deal

Gotta keep the rotors below 13". Need to be able to fit the 16" winter rims/tires. That's what caught my eye with these Ksport kits. They offer from 11" (same as our stockers) up to 16" in 1" increments. I could go up to 12" kit max with the 16" rims but I really don't need the larger size rotors.

if you plan to use these with 16" wheels then you better have some wide low offset wheels. I dont know about you but if im paying $1600 for brakes, it better come with at least 13" rotors to enahnce performance and fill up the space behind 18-19's. just my two cents

Just looking for opinions/feedback on the quality of these kits and not so much what size to get. That I've already decided. But thanks for your view on the subject.

You asked for opinions of the kit originally not about opinions of the quality of this kit. Everybody gave you their opinion, namely not to get it.

Now if you're asking about opinion of the quality, you might not get lucky. Most users of this board don't waste money on garbage mods

Wilwoods or AP Racing are probably the best options for BBK on our cars...But I really don't see the need unless you are making some big power or you are running hard on a track where fade is a real issue...?

So what's the difference between the 5th and 6th gen brakes?

the are bigger, IIRC the 6ths gens rotors are 12.6 vs the 5.5 11inch and i think the 5th gen is even smaller. there are a ton of threads on the subject

6th gen = 12.6"
5.5 = 11.5"
5th = 11"

6th gen brakes won't fit with 16" wheels, will they? OTOH, I know for a fact that 5.5 gen fronts will fit w/ 16" wheels.

You would be correct. My 5.5 gen still has stock and it does fit my set of 16" winters. If the 6th gen are 12.6", I would think I'd be SOL upgrading to those.

A little clarification for everyone's sake :

6th gen BBK clears 16" from 5.5gen.

6th gen BBK doesn't clear 16" from 5th gen.

That's what kept me from upgrading to BBK this past Spring... my 16" winter steelies. So I'm still using 5.5 gen OEM specifications on calipers and rotors.

Fortunately, I didn't learn that lesson first hand, and figured that out here on the Org.

You track your car?

If not, getting a set of good rotors and pads may be your best option so you don't have to deal with which wheels will and will not clear.

That's interesting. I did not know this. Are you sure you aren't referring to the 17" SE's? Because I know for a fact the 6th gen kit will not clear the 5th gen 17's. And that's why I find it hard to believe that it will fit the 2k2+ 16's.

If this was directed to me, read on. If not, ignore the rest.

No I do not. Does it really matter? Not so much. The same thing a few months ago when I decided to buy and install a set of Tein SS coilovers. Did I really need to get this expensive high performance suspension for a car that will never see track time in it's life? Not at all. Do I regret buying them? Hell no!! Probably the most satisfying mod I've done to any of my cars. I was willing to pay the bucks to buy something and do it right the first time.

Same goes with the brakes. Looking for quality and reliability that will fit my criteria (16" winter rims being one). I'm just searching for all possible options. Don't care if I really need them or not. That's not what I'm looking for here.

I've done the good pads and rotors. It worked and fulfilled my "needs". Now I'm looking for other options to fulfill my "wants". I'm hoping we can move on past the "Do I really need it?" scenario.

I know that it can be frustrating with most people asking you if you really need such large high performance brakes or any other high dollar mod on your car. After all, it is your car and entirely your choice.

All I was eluding to was will you actually "use" a big brake kit such as the Wilwoods or KSports? I really don't think you would see much of a benefit in stopping distances so much as you would a resistance to fade when building up massive heat over an extended period of time.

Its always been my belief that if you want shorter stopping distances try stickier rubber.

I agree with what you're saying. I did the same thing with a couple of my performance mods (ie; Headers vs Y pipe, SAFC vs e-Manage, springs/struts vs coilovers) I've chosen the best options

This.

Brakes don't stop you, tires stop you.

I went from OEM 5.5G brakes -> 6th gen brakes -> Wilwood 4-pots. Honestly, for the street, the 6th gen with Hawk pads was more than enough. I got a deal I couldnt pass up on the Wilwoods and while they look 'pretty' behind the wheel, they are complete overkill.

As far as your Tein SS argument goes, its the best suspension available for our cars, whether you track it or not. My car is pretty low, but it still rides almost like stock. I dont regret them at all.
