My 03 Auto Maxima has about 89,xxx miles on it. I notice when placing my car in reverse, it seems like the tranny makes a rubbing sound. It only happens when its transitioning to reverse, once in gear the sound stops and no other sound occurs while driving in reverse. Its not a high pitch, squealing, or grinding sound, and wanted to know if anyone else has this issue with their autos. Can it be something wrong with my trans? My car shifts normal when in drive, and is fine when in reverse.

My 01 GLE has been doing it since I bought it at 112K miles and now i'm at 196K.

I thought it could have been motor mounts, but even after changing out the mounts, the sound continues.

 

Ok good, I was hoping it wasn't anything major that I had to worry about.
