Rear window

Uhm, it looks like I may have damaged the defroster wiring when removing my tint. Which may be hard to prove, since the car has no tint on, and no inside glass scratches
How much is that fancy window with built-in antenna and defroster alltogether, in case Nissan dealer give me B.S.

Anyone ever had the same problem?

I am guessing that the entire rear window would be pretty expensive... just hope that the dealer doesn't find out that you had anything to do with things getting messed up

you can ask Dave B how much it costs, just to make sure.

I'd go to a dealer first to see what they say

I got mine installed for $540.26 from Safelight Autoglass. Make sure you call EVERYONE in the phone book because I was givin a quote for $908.-- talk about a friggen joke!! I also was given a quote of 250 w/ the other amount included in my insurance but since my deductable is 500 I just had to pay for it outta pocket. The old window I had would turn the radio into static as soon as I put the rear defroster on. Now the radio works fine. By the way, I had to replace my window because either a) some punk bastards shot it out w/ a BB gun while I was a block from my house or b) something fell on it as I was driving under trees(doubt it). My first thought when it happend was the defroster was used too much and the cold outside and the cabin pressure blew it out. Who Knows.sorry for the ramble

wow, that's an expensive-*** glass! For $900, I can live w/o defroster. I didn't see a dealer for this specific problem yet, but my dealer already started whining about me having an aftermarket headunit. He's thinking that my wires under the dashboard are all messed up. He said that, after checking, it comes out to be not factory fault, they'll charge me $150 just for checking.

prices depent on the state also. When I liven in Colorado glass was expensive. My passenger window was $225. In NY I got a front windshild for $150. Shop around!! Also try your insurance if you have full/glass coverage depending on your deductible.

Be careful about driving without rear window defroster. If it's cold out you'll most likely have foggy or iced windows. If the rear window is foggy too, you won't see what's coming up behind you. I wouldn't risk it, but that's me

No, I didnt have to pay $900. That was just one of the quotes I got out of about 5 or 6. I paid $540.26 from safe light autoglass. I didnt use my insurance at all. I just paid for it myself.

Damn nothings worse than having to pay for virtually nothing!! I coulda had my Y-pipe and cai for what I had to spend

Hey Y2KMaxGXE-R,

Check out www.oem-car-parts.com. Here are prices for the rear window:

Back Glass, Glass, Nissan, W/O Bose System $364.73
Back Glass, Glass, Nissan, W/Bose System $364.73

You also need to factor in the install cost as well as the cost of the rubber strips, moldings, etc that go into installing a window.

wow, thank you guys for all the info. $360 (+install) is not the end of the world, but I could use that money towards the set of rims, lets say...How in the hell could I damage the defroster lines..those are built-in the window..I was just scraping tint off, used plenty of that liquid staff tint remover...There is no visible damage there.
