We already know that the auto max shifts before max HP is reached, so what good is 5 more? I know its spread thinly across the powerband, but really.. whats the point? Just wondering. Although I havent heard any discussions about whether the AE is faster, which is a good thing as it would be a pretty moot discussion I guess.

Probably NOT

Since the AE has:

body kit
heavier sill plates
Heavier rear view mirror
Heavier engine cover
more wires and gadgets (steering wheel radio controls)
probably heavier muffler
metal pedals
Heavier shift ****
More stitching in the floor mats
Another heavy badge on the trunk

It is probably a wash with the extra five HP....maybe even slower. They do make up some weight with the perforated POS leather seats though! :P

I don't think the 5 HP helps....

like MOBOY said, a lot of extra add-ons on the AE, it'll probably make the car even slower, especially with new the body kit and LSD device.

Yes and No... it is heavier... but you get beeter traction with the LSD... better launches and cornering .... trust me if you have ever driven a car with a LSD you will know what I am talking about... you just floor it in a turn and let the tires bite and pull you trough.... It's awsome.

The extra 5HP is very important to Nissan. It allows them to market an extra added on feature of the AE. I think is matters more on a marketing stand point than on a performance stand point.

I have VLSD on my car, but it's hard for me to tell the difference cuz I've never driven a 5th gen before.
or maybe i'm just being ignorant..... i think i should go to dealer and test drive a SE and make a comparison

well for the record,

I wasnt trying to slam the AE.. I just thought about the shift point thing. I guess the VLSD does give it an edge.

The VLSD doesn't give you an advantage with an auto, unless you are brake torquing the hell out the car at stop lights, which I doubt most Maxima owners do.

I think threads should be auto locked after 6 months or a year. Still available for search, but it'll stop the grave bumping.

My deepest apologies to those to deserve it

First off... sorry I don't hound the threads and I forgot to look at the date.
I was simply looking for an explanation of the AE max....

my post didn't have a lot except that the car I had didn't have lsd and the AE does... so i'm figuring out what the differences are
