Good replacement speaker for front BOSE one that is dying?
Good replacement speaker for front BOSE one that is dying?
I have a 2000 Max with bose. I have no intentions currently (or ever!) of upgrading the stereo. However, the front right speaker is now distorting (sue me, I like bass
). Crutchfield has some EZ fit replacement 6 3/4 speakers - what is a good one that will be able to handle a little more than the old one? I don't want to replace with an overpriced factory speaker. Thanks!

Re: Good replacement speaker for front BOSE one that is dying?
This could be difficult since the Bose speakers run on a different resistance than most aftermarket speakers. I think you would need some converter to do so. Someone wrote about it at one time, but I forget when, just search, it should be easy enough to find.
Crutchfield has several speakers that will replace the factory Bose speakers, I had good luck with Infinity Reference series in another car. I have been eyeing the JL speakers they have, just don't have the need as of yet.
Crutchfield only mentions fitment, not direct replacement. You cannot swap in a JL speaker while maintaining everything else factory Bose. Check the FAQ thread in the Audio/Electronics sub-forum.
