I LOVE this car !

Its true. I Love my 5.5 6spd 03 TE SE.

I love the color, the way it shifts, the way I fit inside it, the way my *** stays warm in my heated seats. I love the climate control and how everything is easily within reach. (read ergonomic) I love the HIDs, the way the car moves effortlessly through traffic.

I Love my 6spd HLSD, with my bolt ons I get the hell out of dodge whenever I want and get 31 mpg on the highway when I want to be frugal.

Seems all too often people are *****ing about the Maxima on the Maxima forum. Personally, I think this car is effing awesome.

Anyone else enjoy their Maxima as much as I do?

Count me in this club. I hate reading people who constantly complain about their car. Good to know how enthusiastic you are about your ride.

if i had the mod list the 2 of you had id love my car more...but as is, its the best car ive ever owned (5th car so far).

worst car ever....94 probe GT, trasmission was slipping and when it shifted under spirited driving it would kick so hard it actually gave me whiplash.

the car in rochesters avatar handles better than a probe

You've never driven a BMW 3-series, then.

As much as I love my Maxima, when I drove my sister's 325i, I wasn't ready to give it back at the end of the day.

Although I don't think that if I had one I'd be too keen on trying to work on the Bimmer myself...

maybe im wrong on this, but it seems the majority of people who complain are the ones who buy a car used with a ton of miles on it, and then complain about having to replace this and that, which, in all honesty is expected on a higher mileage car. but you and i wont know anything about that, right John?

Not when you take care of your car from Day One. It's one of the benefits of being a conscientious original owner.

It doesn't hurt to be a little compulsive-obsessive, either. Like replacing a fully-functioning MAF Sensor because of seeming inevitability.

Hey John, can I have your old MAF? It's got, what, less than half the miles on it that mine does?

Seeming inevitablity, right?

I thought about selling it for like $50, but decided to keep it as a back-up.

OP, I completely agree with you. I love my car and want to keep it for a long time, but when dealing with issues that come up, sometimes you can get discouraged or wanna call it quits. I admit I've been tossing the idea of going back to stock and/or trading in...

I'm with you on this one, OP. I appreciate my 5th gen so much more now since I've purchased a 7th gen -- it's a lot more fun to drive. Comparing the max to a BMW or Benz just doesn't make any sense.

I just like my car right now. The crappy 4AT is my main dislike. I had to drive my Dad's '08 Azera (w/ the 3.8 liter V6) yesterday, and even though it has 270 HP and a 5AT, it feels really sluggish compared to my Max. It handles like a yacht too. Once I do my 6MT swap, then I'll love my car.

Im surprised at the number of people who talk about going back to stock. I realize that when trying to sell a car to a dealership, that they prefer stock rides, but isnt there a large enough private sale market for a well modded maxima? Does it really make more sense to send it back to stock and try to pawn off the mods separately?

Love the 5.5 as well

it does if you want to make more money. selling the car as is will net less cash than parting out and selling the car stock

Going back to stock for resale value on an 8+ year old car doesn't seem worth the PITA effort. It's not worth it to me. When the day comes, my car will be sold exactly as-is.

Besides, it's been going through this Benjamin Button transformation over the last few years. The only thing that hasn't been going backwards is the odometer.

Okay, well, how about something more reasonable? How about a Toyota or a Chevy?

Lexus IS300: it's a Toyota...it's a great car. Owned one, sold it, would readily own another if I could find one for the right price. Even stock, it handled like it was on rails. I can't imagine what it'd be like on a set of coilovers.

Chevy Cobalt SS: Never owned, but I've driven one. Pretty bad-*** little tuners for the price range. And with a nice turbo upgrade, it'll run well with most higher-end cars.

"We can’t let the people who’ve been hit hardest by this recession and who we need to create the jobs that will get us out of it foot the bill for the Democrats’ two-year adventure in expanded government."

~ Mitch McConnell
In other words, no one is suffering as much as those making more than $250,000/year.

Not exactly someone for Kentucky, or the nation, to be proud of.

No....thats Pennsylvania...... true story.

OP....is this the first standard you've owned? It doesnt shift that well. Even with the ES bushings and a STS, its really clunky. My '99 shifted much nicer.

Dont get me wrong, I love my car. To me its the perfect balance between performace, modablilty (is that a word?), comfort, and being practical for a daily driver. There a few quirks that bug me, but what car wouldnt.

I dont see people complaining about the car, more the lack of maintenance that someone has done. Most people "complaining" are just looking for a way improve their car to their tastes.

I have all that except for the brand new OEM shift **** (i have an older OEM shift **** ) and the NWP torque link connector. Obviously the shift **** makes no difference in the shifting, so what effects would the torque link connector have? That wouldnt eliminate the clunkiness....
