What did you replace them with? I have Eibach springs and KYB GR2's (OEM replacements) and they have been fine for the last 3-4 yrs.

Dude, you don't even know. This setup is a little too harsh for my aging a$$. Feels like I went over a speed bump when I run over a cigarette butt.

^ You should be OK on stock struts with Progress springs. I have Megan Racing springs, which are only 0.1 inch higher in the front than Progress springs, and the ride is great on my worn stock struts. The only annoying thing is that the car hops a little on higher speed bumps. If your struts are only a year old, the ride should be even better.

The axles will be fine. You may eventually wear out the struts, but not in the near future.

No reason why you should be worried about blowing your axles.

I don't see how your axles would be affected by your strut choice. Typically CV's don't appreciate the angles they're subjected to when the ride is is very low. After a certain drop, the CV axle and joint angle are at a very unfavorable geometry.

Megan Racing springs are lower than Progress springs in both the front and rear, but its usually recommended to go with an aftermarket strut choice when using lowering springs.

Just kidding. You won't blow axles unless your car is slammed.

The comparison of one drop vs. another (megan vs. progress) is NOT a valid indicator of how the car is going to handle/ride when considering different spring/strut combo's.

That being said: I SERIOUSLY doubt the OEM struts will handle what those Progress Springs are dishin'-out for very long....and your ride quality is going to suck ballz.
Will they blow-out in a day / week /month / year????
No tellin'.
But they WILL blow-out eventually.

Since you don't NEED springs, I would wait until you have Illuminas or Blues. Its eaiers to install them both at once anyway.

I just installed megan lowering springs today. rear struts felt ok(for now). front struts felt very weak. wasn't expecting it so didn't have replacement ones ready to put in. ride home felt a little more firm than before, looks much better, and overall happy with the $150 shipped springs. I suggest running the lowering springs until your struts go out. then you'll have a reason to upgrade. I agree that there will be no axle trouble with lowering springs unless the working angles are seriously altered.

Can't speak for Megan's, but my H&Rs that were recently installed softened up a bit after 500 miles (but still slightly firmer than OEM SE springs). Hopefully they will do the same when the settle in for you.

I personally spoke to one of their (Progress Technology) Tech Reps and the Progress Sports Spring were designed for the OEM struts in mind....

Sorry Cmax -- i don't doubt YOU.....it's the Springs mated to OEM Struts that i doubt.

I've posted many times about my experience with Progress Springs and Illuminas.....but this IS just my opinion.

I cannot imagine running those springs on OEM struts....what a nightmare that must be!

And for the record, Progress Springs = great Handling, very even drop, but HORRIBLE Ride for a daily-driver on ANYTHING but the smoothest of roads.
