serious problem after strut change

Well I changed my struts last night(blues&teins) well I gave it a test run this morning and had some grinding/rubbing symptoms posted in suspension section.so I proceeded to jack it up pull the wheels and have a look.nothing loose or no signs of rubbing so while up on the stands I start it up put it in gear and no noise any more so I proceed to put a jack under the lower and put the arm up to ride hight the noise is there but really faint.I put it all bact together and give it a test run.rubbing is back so I give it a little gas and get a bang and a heavy grinding noise no forward or reverse just the grinding noise.now this axle was a jy replacement from the insurance company and I have complained about a light rubbing noise sense I received the car back and was told it was the tires by the repair shop.the accident was pretty bad they had to replace the whole right side suspension I hit a curb 18" high rim face first hard enuff to snap the rim in half.my question is could of that damaged the trans or where the axle goes into the trans and the new angle of the suspension just magnafied the issue with the new struts and springs and me giving it the gas just toast the trans.I never had issues with the a/t before not even the cold slip.

Sounds as if the axle was never seated properly into the tranny. Check to make sure your axle is properly installed. If it is, sounds as if you might have internal tranny issues.

sounds to me like your axle is bad in the CV joint or it is not seated properly in the transmission.

Did they replace the LCA during the repair?

I have seen a recent thread about rubbing noise when using aftermarket LCA on lowered car where it rubs the rotor. Something you can check out.

Also, do you have new hub and bearing? Was that seated properly? Wheel passes wiggle test at 12-6 ok?

Knowing the hit broke your rim, there could have been damage to the frame itself.

Did this problem happen after struts or was it there before?

Did you make sure the strut top hat thingie was facing OUT? I believe it's labeled this way. It could be install in the wrong direction causing it to chafe against the body of the car..... I dunno.

I might of messed up somewhere shop says the axle is not seated in the transmission completly.I don't know how that could of happened I'm unable to check it right now I'm in the hosiptal.they said the driver side is not in that might explain the loud noise that happened and the condition of no foward or reverse.I hope that's the only thing that happened.but I still don't understand how it drove until I gave it a little gas then bang it stopped moving and made a grinding noise.

Yup outside is facing out towards the wheel.and I used all new kyb everything.only thing I wasn't sure of was the little round metal disc in the rear strut between the bump stop and top of the strut cylinder I put it back the same way it came off.
