Getting ready to sell the Max
Getting ready to sell the Max
Long story short, I want to make sure the new owner is 100% satisfied with this car because if he is happy, I am happy.
I've already done the following to the car:
- Oil Change and Filter
- Air Filter
- Transmission Fluid Change (with Synthetic ATF)
- Coolant Flush (Prestone Lifetime Coolant)
- Brake Fluid Change
- New Battery
- Obvious stuff like vacuum the car, etc.
Is there anything else you guys would recommend on a 10 year old car with just less than 90,000 miles? We've had this Max since the 5th gen first came on the market so all the quirks are worked out (warranty).

I would check the condition of the brake pads and rotors, ensure there are no blown bulbs anywhere and most definitely change the always forgotten about "cabin filter" located behind the glove box. Lastly, you may want to replace the fuel filter as well.
You better let it go as is. It is unlikely that you will get more $$$ from your last minutes investment.
BTW, if you are not that far away from NY, I am interested buying your car. I am looking to get another 5th or 5.5th gen to replace my Solara. PM me!

As for the others that said to let the car go as-is, I'm not looking to get more $$$ from any last minute investment. Just want the new owner to be happy, as if I were buying a used car I'd hate to fork over $$$$ and have the car not show up as expected. Or in need of critical safety components such as brake pads or tires. Just about the principle.
Thanks for the help!!
Thanks, I purchased the cabin air filter from the dealership and installed it myself, along with the rear brake pads which I bought from Stillen. I will also change the rear tires, as they are getting close to the wear bars.

I wish he thought as much about sale as you do now in that case there would be much less troubles for me
I just bought mine and I can tell you it's not a waste of money to invest in those things. I paid more for mine knowing that it had brand new tires and had recently been serviced. At the time I noticed no problems with the car (I've since found a couple). When someone can show you receipts for work they just did it tells you that at the very least the owner cared enough to service it before selling it, most people who do that probably serviced it well while they owned the car. You did the right thing.
