My Max runs like a 4 cylinder. Is it MAF sensor problem?

The title says all.

I replaced my starter couple days ago. When taking off the intake assembly, I had a struggle when taking out the harness of MAF sensor.

After replacing the starter, Car starts like new, runs like new in local, but when I am on the highway, it lost its acceleration and runs like if it has a 4 cylinder engine. I don't see check engine light on the dashboard.

Only suspicious part that I can think of is MAF. I cleaned the sensor with CRC cleaner and also made a GAB, but no help.

Sorry about making another MAF thread. I really need some consent from the people in our forum that this is a MAF problem before I order the part.

Thank you always.

Maybe you pulled some wires loose in the MAF harness in your struggle?

I had a hard time to release the harness from the sensor. It didn't come off when I press the green release tab. After about 30 minutes of frustration, I unbolted the screw and took off the sensor from the housing. After couple more tries, I somehow finally disconnected and put the sensor back to the housing.

Car loses its power and acceleration when driving on highway, it is one of the symptoms of bad MAF?

Does it show any codes? Check your coils/plugs for a misfire if the MAF is fine.

Sounds exactly like what happenesd to my car after I disconnected the maf to install a grounding kit. When I reconnected same sympton your having its because at high rpms your maf is at the wrong voltage if you have an afc you can actually observe this. Its definitely your maf and I have the new one I installed for sale since not even 50 miles later my car was totaled pm I'll give you a ggood price for it shipped. And its the whole housing with the sensor.

And next time to release the harness from the sensor just slip a flat head under where the harness and sensor connect and while pressing the tab just push up on the harness and they willseparate from each other really easily.

Just fixed the problem! It was not a MAF sensor.
Before I order the MAF sensor, I did the idle air volume learning because I have nothing to lose since it's free, and the problem is gone.

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...00-2001-a.html

Now it is running strong again. If anyone in the future experience power/acceleration problem after replacing a starter, do idle air volume learning process first.

Thank you everybody for your help.
