I'm calling BS on that long-winded rationale. I bet you get those headlights painted before it snows.

John, I have a VAFC II waiting for me as a Christmas present, a ZT-2 WB in the mail, and a JWT popcharger, fuel filter, and OBDII code reader about to be ordered (before Christmas).

I will tell you this now so that you know: IF I SPEND ANY MORE MONEY ON MY MAXIMA IN THE NEXT 4 MONTHS, MY WIFE IS GOING TO KILL ME!!! So if you want me dead, by all means, continue trying to pressure me into painting more things.......

Yes. And my housings are painted. Peer pressure sucks.

Thank you.

Don't get carried away with blacking out everything, but with a lighter car I think you can either keep light accents or increase contrast with darker accents. I think the headlights would tie in the front end.

P.S. It was nice knowing you, but like Rochester said, the headlights WILL be done so buy her flowers. Her meaning your wife, not Rochester.

I've been considering headlights for a while now. I just can't grow a pair big enough to jam my headlights in the oven...

I'm thinking I'd like to install a set of angel eyes with the satin black/gunmetal colored headlights. I like the way they sort of 'glow' on the black paint.

I don't need flowers. Helping jowo9 get right with his car has its own rewards.

Besides, I think he's telling us that he's not done painting. He doesn't need someone else to tell him that.

You mean 'tormenting me because you know I have a problem' has its own rewards.

...and you're doing this just because you want to see if you can make me cave. Well I might, but not for at least a few months. I have plenty to keep me busy until then.

However you want to look at it. Whatever.

So are you going to do the headlights yourself, or are you going to find a quality shop to do the work? I'm thinking you're doing your own work, since you're already in paint-something mode.

You should document it. Start a whole new how-to thread. I bet you a lot of people would be interested in it.

Here's some more to add to the peer pressure:

Yes, I know I need to have my bumper properly aligned. It bugs me to no end!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to remove our headlights, we only need to unbolt the top two bolts on the rad support and pull them straight out, right?

It's not like my Z that has two bolts under the front bumper.

These headlights look really good. Not a fan of the cleared turn-signal, but it seems to matter to a lot of people, and this looks clean.

You and jowo9 should look into getting the OEM weatherstrip that goes over the headlight assemblies. It creates a nice, finished look when the hood is shut.

Headlamp Pack, right hand - 26033-2Y900
Headlamp Pack, left hand - 26083-2Y900

Should run you about $18 at your local dealership.

Not a problem. Glad I could help.

Like any other rubber weatherstrip on your car, recondition them a few times a year with silicone, and they should last forever.

Or at least until the next time you bake your headlamps...

Hey Rochester (or anyone for that matter), do you have pics of that previously mentioned weather stripping for above the headlights? I want to see how it looks. If it looks good, I might get it and kill 2 birds with one stone (I have the hood shake)...

+1...I'm curious as well. I have the hood shake too but I thought that was because the hood isn't OEM. Maybe this will solve our problems

I blacked out the whole thing this summer. Sand paper and water. Primer. Flat black from the local hardware store. Voilà !
I like it personally, matches well with flat black stillen lip and gives it the agressive look in a rear-view mirror . But we won't all agree on the same opinion.
Here's what it looks like. Also in my sig pic.

As promised, some photos of this OEM headlamp weatherstrip pack.

And about those hood chips... some things are easier to remove from a digital image than others.

Sorry if this was already addressed. Does anyone know if there is a paint available that matches the stock color of the grille? Thank you.

Do you mean these instructions?

  3. Right in the middle of the grill, there is another bolt. Again, this is affixed to the grill, and held to the bumper by a M6 nut. (And again, Kroil helps loosen things up.) In order to get a socket on this nut, you need to pull the bumper skin towards you, which is why you remove the 4 bumper skin tabs.
  4. Along the bottom of the grill, there are 4 tabs clipping the grill in place. You really only need to push in on the two outside tabs, push with a little force, and the grill comes right out.

You're welcome. And no, the burger just un-clips right into your hands. You'll see.
