100k miles

well my 03 6sp finally reached 100k miles and still running strong

repairs needed prior to 100k:
1) camshaft positioning sensor
2) LR ABS brake sensor
3) exhaust mid pipe and muffler

Concerns/defective:
1) burns oil, about 1.5 quart monthly
2) stupid BLOSE CD played (who plays CD these days)
3) RF strut is leaking

Maintenance and repairs to do:
1) change all fliuds
2) plugs - NGK platinum
3) struts - probably replacing w/Tokico blues

So glad i invested in buying this car, def worth every penny

Amit, glad u feel strongly about a Maxima (I don't with my 00 maxima but that me, comparing my vehicle with wifes 06 Highlander makes my maxima look stupid with engg issues).

Now coming back to maximas this is what I recommened.

1) Change fuel filter.
2) Change all struts and boots. On the front change the strut mounts, they help relieve hard steering (my BKM with suspension is when replacing shocks replace all including boots and mounts, don't have to think about if for another 100K miles).
3) Flush PS with M1 syn ATF, the directions are on another thread.
4) Clean with brake clear all ABS sensors.

Might want to replace the two lower belts if you have not done that previously.
Cabin filter
I'd skip the fuel filter unless you have fuel starvation problems or high-speed stuttering.
Power steering fluid should last, um, forever. (Just like brake fluid)

1.5 gts. of oil a month.......don't you find that unacceptable? To me it's completely BS. All your other issues are fairly easy fixes.

I have an oil burning problem as well but I go thru about 1 qt between oil changes, (about every 3500 miles). I ditched my Bose for a Pioneer DVD touchscreen about 5 months ago. You may want to change your trans fluid to Redline MT 90, my cold weather shifts are so much smoother. Also, if you haven't done it take the time to do the short throw shifter mod; it will be the best $4 dollars you will spend on your car.

hopefully it doesn't get any worse

Brake fluid lasts a long time, but not forever.

Was just going to say this.
Brake fluid does last a long time indeed. I tend to go farther than some on brake fluid, but it is a DOT3 spec on our cars, and it does absorb water and become less effective over time. Sometimes even ruining brake parts if it gets too old.

I do a bleed on my cars every 2 years.

That's why I upgraded my to DOT 4. It is not racing fluid, but it has a higher boiling point than 3.

That does help it last, but its still hygroscopic like DOT3.
