I have a 02 max with.143xxx on it, and I am getting this rattling noise. When I start the car when it's cold it doesn't do it, when the car is warm while it's in neutral idling I give it a little gas and it makes a rattling noise. I checked the exhaust system and the heat shield still getting it. It sounds like it's coming from the engine or underneath. What could this be? Thanks

It's good just had a oil change and I don't loose any kind of oil

 

Most likely your precat needs to be replaced.

the rattle i heard is all pre-cat. this is i think, simply not cool ! but ill bear with it....

 

I drove with the rattle on my car for a year. It didn't hurt anything but it was annoying, especially on a stick shift. Everytime I would let go off the gas while driving, and the engine was b/w 1000 and 2000rpm, I would get the rattle...

The inside of the cat just came loose. It didn't break in pieces or anything, but the entire thing inside was loose and no longer attached to the metallic shell of the cat.

tip: if you need to replace your cat, ask your mechanic if you can get the old one back. I brought mine to a recycling place and got $70 for it
