AC/Heat not working on low

Noticed this a few weeks ago. When I put the AC on, regardless of it being on hot or cold, "1" doesn't generate any hot or cold air. It sounds like the system kicks on (if at night, lights dim for a split second like usual). Yet, when on 2, 3, or 4, it's perfectly fine. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Mine did the same thing, then shortly afterward 2 didn't work. Only my 3 and 4 worked and they both sounded like a jet plane. Then3 stopped working and only 4 worked. Then it all died. My friend took it apart and said that I blew a fuse, fried my regulator and fan motor. So 200 dollars later I fixed everything but only me heat and ac work on 4 until I replace the regulator for the other speeds. I was told the regulator cost 75 bucks. Still have to get that.

You don't need to take the glove box out to change the Amplifier/Resistor, as both screw are fully accessible ... now if your going to change the blower motor then you will need to remove the glove box as described.

Remove the 2 screws holding the Amplifier/Resistor, pull out the Amplifier/Resistor and install the new one.

Do you have the manual controls or is your unit a digital display? there is a huge replacement price difference between the two units. Here in Canada from the dealer the manual ac/heat Amplifier/Resistor goes for 55.00 plus taxes and the digital Amplifier/Resistor goes for 148.00 plus taxes

It's manual. (no need to remove negative battery terminal either?)

If it's the amplifier/resistor that is causing nothing to happen on the lowest level, I'll just change that (though with my luck, it will be something else)

Hopefully it is just the resistor and it is quite simple to change ... I have had to do mine twice in the past two years ... unfortunately mine is a digital display, the second time I also had to change out the blower motor (which I picked up from the scrap yard for 50.00 bucks)

and no I didn't disconnect the battery it is a simple remove the two screws and unplug that unit and plug in the new one and reconnect the two screws

Thanks for the help. Resistor came yesterday, just spent 5 minutes swapping in this morning, and boom ges the dynamite. Air on 1 again.
