I would think that this would be a very difficult swap since the Fan and A/C controls are built into the Nav screen. Very curious how it works out, subscribed...

I've seen it in reverse in the forums, someone went to the auto climate controls. They said it was too much of a pita so I think that deterred a lot of people. Good luck though

^^I'm that installer. I've already started matching the wire colors between the two FSM's.

I will be posting a wire color mapping document when I'm done. Just another innovative product coming from the mastermind of djfrestyl

I am in the same boat as the OP.. I have searched and have found one thread where " GodFather " did such swap from OEM navi - aftermarket..

Here's the thread. -
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generation-maxima-2000-2003/359817-navigation-doble-din-vs-gxe-double-din-kit.html
I have sent him a PM and have had no response..
I hope you have better luck with this. IMy OEM navi is a POS! the AUTO climate control button fell off and I have no AC/Heater..
Please post up picks and a wiring diagram.

You have to get the FSM's from both the navi and non-navi version, and match up the wire colors / functions of those wires. What's good is that the wire colors hold the same function between the two versions. They're just on differently shaped harnesses.

It's basically a mapping exercise.

I also just PM'd GodFather. He's been active on the forums so hopefully he has some insightful info. I'm capable of doing this, just need some additional information.

Other than that, most of the wires are done from the small control module at the lower left corner of the floor once you open up the NaviDash area.

Helps, but additional info still needed. Once I get in there I think it will simply come to me

I already mapped out all the wire colors between the two versions in a spreadsheet. Once we do the install I'll post the full how-to with pictures, information, etc.

I'm looking to swap out my Navi as well the guys at car toys said its impossible, but if I can show them maybe they can do it. I don't know anybody where I live (Colorado springs) so that's unfortunately my only option.

Also, I found a climate control that I wanted to put in fro
Another '03 max on eBay, where the 6 disc changer control goes. Is that where you will be putting the climate control?

Thanks in advance! Look forward to the final product!

You do have to purchase an auto climate control from an 02/03 Maxima. You also need the accompanying harness for that climate control.

Dealer would have it for sure, otherwise you could go to car-part.com, or a local junkyard.

Update!

I have all the information necessary for someone to do this swap. I've done ALL the research, and have mapped out all the wire colors, pin locations, etc.

Unfortunately the OP has decided to sell his Maxima, which means we will not be performing this project.

This does mean that all the parts necessary are now for sale:
auto climate control
center vents
radio brackets
auto climate control pigtails/harness

Please PM me if interested, I am selling it as a package. And I will also include the spreadsheet which I created that has all the wiring information. It will make performing this job very easy.

Hey im kinda new here and I know this is an old thread, but do you still have the spreadsheeg for the swap. My navi was ripped out an harnesses cut, the stock navigation for the 02 max seem to be hard to find. I already have the ac/heater control + harness.
