Front PreCat is Gone

Today I went and checked on my engine swap. After checking the front exhaust manifold, I noticed the precat is gone. If it broke up, would there be any pieces of it remaning inside the housing? I just cant see someone hollowing it out. It looks like 2 cylinders were blowing oil instead of 1. Would it be alright to re-use this manifold now? Or should I go with headers?

the obx headers are only 350, so i dunno what to tell ya. i wasnt even gonna get headers, but after hearing about precat failures, and knowing i was gonna keep the car for a long time, i bit the bullet and got them. the 30+HP aint that bad either

Well after doing some research, im gonna be a scrooge and wait on the headers, its xmas time and i really want to get my lil one a dirtbike, so I am just gonna hollow out the other side and clean them up real good. My main concern is that this engine Im having installed, I havent heard it run yet.

Another VQ dead

Bump so people read this and gut the cats or get headers.

This is exactly what happened to my old car. Front cats fell apart, ruined the cylinder walls and then clogged up the main cat. Check your main cat. I bet you'll love what you find.

Ebay is your friend:

For a HFC go with either the cattman fastcat, or just run a testpipe instead.
