bad ball joint?? plzz help
Hey guys so I got an 02 6spd max and I just recently replaced the driver side wheel bearing and hub also driver side axle seal and both inner and outter tie rods on both sides....driver side axle is from dealership and is a month old...
So yesterday the car started making a constant thumpng whenn accelerating or turning left when turning right I dnt really feel it...seems like its def the driver side so I originally thought it was a bad cv joint. Boot has no rips inner or outter nd took it back to strauss to inspect the axle. They then told me its my driver side ball joint. Which does have a torn boot and wouldn't be suprised if it is bad
But what's baffling is that the noise occurs straight or left in any gear but when put in netural I feel no thumpping at ALL this has got me stumped. I drove the car in an open area around 30mph swerving left and right and felt massive thumping more aggressive when accelerating at the same time then threw it in netural mid swerve and nothing complete silence??
Any input would be grreat before I go and swap the lca ball joint nd that not be my issue

You do know you don't have to replace the LCA to get a new ball joint? I rented the ball joint remover/install tool and pressed out and pressed the new one in. It was a pain in the butt because I couldn't figure out what adaptors from the kit to use, but managed to get it working.
That sound could be the spindle striking the LCA because of the torn ball joint.
